One correction: You are not required to have completed that quest to find this item. You do need to have the book in your inventory, but as you say, that can be acquired by talking to Selina Dourman at the Faire.

there IS no kruban darkblade in game anymore - your post is dated. some information might be useful, but a 4.3 update is imperative or this should otherwise be deleted.

i can confirm that all the imbued crystal, monstrous egg, mysterious grimoire and ornate weapon are obtainable in SM instances(not 100% drop)

I can confirm the crystal also drops off Twilight Lord Kelris in BFD. It dropped during a random on a lvl 24 toon. I was the only person in the group with the guide, so no one else was able to roll.

This quest is do-able once every Darkmoon Faire (alas, every month). It can be aquired as long as you've got [url=http://www.wowhead.com/item=71634]Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide[/url] in your backpack, and can still drop regardless if Darkmoon Faire is currently active or not.

Lets hope it is, i just got a second Crystal. I will keep it and see what happens.

If it's not, you can either give your extras to friends/alts, or sell them on the Auction House. I don't know about other realms, but people were actually buying these Darkmoon items for a couple hundred gold on my realm.

This dropped for me in the Queen Aszhara encounter in the new Well of Eternity HC.

Yeah I got one each time from her chest.

I got mine off Taragaman the Hungerer in RFC.

Got mine off Queen Aszhara as well.

I found mine on Kael during my daily mount run, possibly any final boss of a dungeon has a chance of dropping it

Lvl 85 rogue, just killed Taragaman and it didn't drop.

Please keep in mind that the quest is not repeatable during one DMF festival. After you complete the quest you cannot get it for the second time, as it states when you use an item for the second time "You have already completed this quest". In other words - you can do the quest once every month. Now, to all the naysayers, Blizzard has confirmed that these quests are to be repeated each month. Not sure if this is true yet. Just tried to accept the quest from the items a second time (second month DMF availible) and it says, "You've already completed this quest".

Dropped by Taragaman the Hungerer in Ragefire Chasm for 85s.

Guessing these aren't 100% drops then or that they hotfixed this. Didn't drop for me.

Confirmed that it didn't drop for me off of him either.

Dropped off High Inquisitor Whitemane in Scarlet Monastery - Cathedral on my level 85. It dropped on my 2nd run, don't expect to have a 100% drop rate.

High level characters can keep resetting the instance to farm it. A good alternative to running 85 instances.

Edit: Drop rate has probably been level appropriated. There is no use farming SM if you're 85.

I killed him over 10 times on my lvl 85 hunter with the Adventurer's guide in my bas and still haven't seen it drop. So I would recommend that people should farm this item else where than SM Cathedral

Agreed, got fed up and moved somewhere else.

On 3-17-12, I was farming the Cathedral for silk cloth on my lvl 85. I would say the drop rate was every 2-3 runs, I got 10 crystals yeaterday.

if you have multiples and plan to sell the extras be careful when turning them in. The quest took both of the ones in my bag for this item. None of the other turn ins have done this to me so far

just did 5 Taragaman kills in RFC on my lvl 85 hunter... no drops at all did they hot fix since the book sais something about apropriately challenging ? nvm just got one quest item of Gazrilla in ZG and one from Arcanist Doan in SM guess i just had bad droprate :) worth mentioning SM counts as one dungeon i think with its diffrent parts... and since 3 diffrent tokens drop in there you can farm 3 tokens per reset... considering the dungeon lock out when you entered to many in to short time it might be a very good place to farm, if you run Library for Doan, Armory for Herod then Cathedral for Whitemane and then reset you get 3 dungeons on one reset :)

I just received the crystal from Scarlet monastery, so it's still present as of patch 4.3.4

Looks like it doesn't drop in Ragefire anymore. Taragaman's gone of course (still listed here as the final boss tho o.0), but it's not showing right now on the loot tables for any of the new bosses, and so far I haven't seen it or any of the other items.

Yeah twilight lord Kelris drops it. For level 20's he's it now that ragefire chasm has been changed.

You may wanna add that it also drops from Lord Kelris in Blackfathom Deeps (dungeon level 22-25)

10 kills of Taragaman with my 85; no drops at all.

They might have changed the droprates or not, it took me 13 or 14 runs in SM: Cath to get the Imbued crystal, however i got it! So don't give up and think it's bugged like i did :P It's just not a guarranteed spawn.

Also while doing that u can put on a tabard of any of your main cities, just a tip for some free rep!

I've continued to farm the Imbued Crystal, and I can tell you after about 20 runs of SM, it doesn't seem to drop from Whitemane.

Got the Crystal on my second run thru Magister's Terrace, with my 85 rogue, the first heroic run did not drop it, but the second one on normal mode did,

Just killed Taragaman six times and it never dropped.

After 8 fruitless killings of Taragaman, I went to SM and tried High Inquisitor Whitemane. 4 tries and still nothing. Okay, there is no way this should be happening.

Was farming them from Whitemane in SM a few days ago, but went back today and they aren't dropping. 5 tries and counting. May have been hotfixed or bugged.

I've received a few of these from Kael'thas Sunstrider in heroic Magister's Terrace.

They also drop from the Hour of Twilight dungeons now.

Just got one on my level 42 priest in Dire Maul Capitol Gardens, from the big demon boss thing at the end

Same here. I just went to the Capitol Gardens and it dropped off of Immol'thar.

I just had it drop, Ran it 4 times, drop on the last try. Real easy. took 16 minutes, 4 minutes per run, to run in loot run out reset. 5am server time, Dawnbringer.
