This is one of the items that your [item=71634] can help you find. [item=71634] is from [npc=10445], who resides in the first tent on your left as you enter the Darkmoon Faire.

Turning in this item is part of 2 achievements: [achievement=6028] and [achievement=6029]

The artifacts needed for [achievement=6028] are:
[ol] [li][item=71953] & [quest=29458][/li] [li][item=71951] & [quest=29456][/li] [li][item=71952] & [quest=29457][/li] [/ol]
Collecting all the Darkmoon Faire Artifacts rewards [achievement=6029]. The full list of Darkmoon Faire Artifacts is:
[ol] [li][item=71953] & [quest=29458][/li] [li][item=71951] & [quest=29456][/li] [li][item=71952] & [quest=29457][/li] [li][item=71635] & [quest=29443][/li] [li][item=71636] & [quest=29448]/[quest=29444][/li] [li][item=71637] & [quest=29445]/[quest=29449][/li] [li][item=71638] & [quest=29446]/[quest=29450][/li] [li][item=71716] & [quest=29464]/[quest=29465][/li] [li][item=71715] & [quest=29451][/li] [/ol]

The Darkmoon Faire Field Guide

It’s your passport to riches, my friend. Y’see, we need a few things -- just some junk, nothing valuable to a big hero like you. We call ‘em Darkmoon Artifacts, and there’s all different kinds to be found all over Azeroth. The Darkmoon Field Guide helps you discover artifacts while you’re explorin’ dungeons, slayin’ monsters, and fightin’ in Battlegrounds. Without a guide, you’d never notice ‘em, and it’ll help keep you focused on the stuff we want. Whether you just reached level 10, or you’ve crushed the biggest baddies in the land, we need somethin’ from nearly everybody. You won’t have to go too far out of your way to get ‘em and each month you’ll get a new opportunity to seek out an Artifact for us. What do you get out of the deal? Don’t you worry, you’ll get your cut. When you bring a Darkmoon Artifact back to us, you’ll get valuable experience (it builds character, you know!), earn a better reputation, and possibly earn precious Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets too!
There's not much info on how the PvP items come about.

I received a [item=71952] while looting a body in Isle of Conquest. So far, I've not received anything for capturing bases, flags, towers etc or for winning a battleground.

So, all I can say is make sure you loot those bodies!

Edit - Please don't down rate relevant info which was posted within hours of Darkmoon going live. Just because it may be obvious now, it wasn't then when people were looking for information. Cheers!

The info here is indeed relevant and at the time when some people weren't sure, this information was good to know - just in case. Especially for those who weren't on the PTR or didn't look at the PTR section of the site. Just saying, is all.

Just confirming getting the [item=71951] from looting/removing insignias off players while doing SOTA tonight, and also getting Grisly Trophies from them - counting towards the Test Your Strength quest items needed. All while the [item=71634] was in my bag, ofc. There's some more info on the page for the Darkmoon Defender achievement. --- // EDIT: Have also since been looting the following items, in addition to the aforementioned [item=71951], multiple times in all different PVP scenarios: [ul] [li][item=71953][/li] [li][item=71952][/li] [/ul]

Please keep in mind that the quest is not repeatable during one DMF festival. After you complete the quest you cannot get it for the second time, as it states when you use an item for the second time "You have already completed this quest". In other words - you can do the quest once every month. Now, to all the naysayers, Blizzard has confirmed that these quests are to be repeated each month. Source They have also stated that the quest drops that happen in the dungeons/raids/BG’s happen all the time, even if the faire isn’t in town. Thanks, this was the information I was looking for! I get a lot of Darkmoon Faire drops from BGs, but was wondering if I should keep them or sell them on the AH (they sell nicely, for 150g a pop, on my server). Now I will keep at least one in the bank for use at the next Darkmoon Faire! +1

I'd recommend going to Isle of Conquest to farm for this. It's a 40-man, so there are a lot of people dying, and it has a lot more actual PvP than Alterac Valley. Most active combat is near the keeps, and the enemy keep is often your best bet. A few stragglers will periodically rez, only to be torn up by your own forces, leaving behind their corpses, fresh for looting. Be sure you're the first to snag their insignia; this isn't group loot.

What is this? This item [item=71951] starts the quest [quest=29456] that you can turn in with the Darkmoon Faire whenever it is in town.

How do I get it? In order to be eligible to loot this, you must have the [item=71634] in your [s]bags[/s] inventory - which can be obtained in one of two ways: [ul] [li]Receive it as a reward from Gelvas Grimegate after completing The Darkmoon Faire for Alliance or The Darkmoon Faire for Horde.[/li] [li]Receive it from Selina Dourman just by talking to her, she stands at the first tent on the left-side of the entrance to the Darkmoon Faire. [small]Note: if you have The Darkmoon Faire quest in your quest log, Selina will not offer to give you the guide - you will either need to drop the quest and speak to her again or simply hand in at which point you get the guide anyway.[/small] [/li] [/ul]

Where do I get it? [ul] [li]This particular item can be looted by removing insignias from fallen enemies in battlegrounds.[/li] [/ul]

Why do I want it? There are several reasons that you may want this item: [ul] [li]Receive 5 Darkmoon Prize Tickets upon handing it in - these tickets allow you to purchase mounts, pets and other collectibles whenever the Darkmoon Faire is on.[/li] [li]Receive 250 reputation [small](or more depending on your racial/guild bonuses etc)[/small] with the Darkmoon Faire - great for anyone who is either a rep junkie or is working towards The Insane title awarded by the Insane in the Membrane achievement.[/li] [li]Having completed the quest that this item starts will count towards the achievements Darkmoon Defender and Darkmoon Despoiler.[/li] [li]Gold gold GOLD - since this item isn't BoP (bind on pickup), it is tradable and sellable via the auction house. If you don't care about the above three points, then you can profiteer from someone who does![/li] [/ul]

What else do I need to know? [ul] [li]The quest can only be turned in once per Darkmoon Faire. You can certainly collect more of these, however if you've turned in for the current faire, you'll have to wait till it's next in town.[/li] [li]This item can be looted anytime - that is to say, the Darkmoon Faire does not have to be currently on in order for you to be able to find these puppies.[/li] [/ul]

What other Darkmoon Faire drops are there? [ul] [li][item=71953] -> [quest=29458] = 5 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71952] -> [quest=29457] = 5 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71635] -> [quest=29443] = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71636] -> [quest=29444] = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71637] -> [quest=29445] = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71638] -> [quest=29446] = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71716] -> [quest=29464] = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71715] -> [quest=29451] = 15 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [/ul]

Will frequently amend and extend this post as users request it or as I learn more.

Just a hint here guys. The item is BoP so you can sell it on.... If you got alot of it from PvP on your low lvl alt you can go sell it on AH for a few golds ( 200 - 600 ), but it depends on server. On sylvanas it goes for 450g each. Its a quite fast way to grind golds on a low lvl char :-)..... Hope it helped

829815+4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

No, these are BG only I'm afraid. However, they are quite easy to get on BGs like Eye of the Storm, Stand of the Ancients and Isle of Conquest, because of the large amount of kills in each battle. Simple loot all player corpses you can find and you will probably get one sooner than later!

Dehir-13via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Its pretty stupid that you cannot hand these items like you can hand example rogue decks example. I have got 4 Banner of fallen, 2xCaptured insignia and adventurer's journal allready since the first new darkmoonfaire. And they are stealing my bank space... So these should be repeatable

Dalylah-4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Edit: It is February 4, the day before third round of DMF starts and I can pick up the repeatable quests already. It seems Blizzard fixed this. Yay.

[s]It is January 1st and the second round of DMF is here. I am unable to start the quest for Banner of the Fallen, Adventurers Journal or Captured Insignia. I appears that they can be used only once as of today. I could however turn in the other 5 that drop from dungeons and raids.[/s]

These Darkmoon Faire artifacts cannot be turned in more than once, even in different months. You get the message "You have completed that quest" if you try to accept the quest from the item again. This does place a smaller limit in the total number of tickets one can earn every time the Faire comes to town.

Edit: Bug fixed as of 01-04-12. http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3161499235

Here is a macro for quickly determining which Darkmoon Artifacts you've turned in so far for that month...
/run for k,v in pairs({{80,8},{316,13},{317,14},{318,15},{0,0},{1,1},{2,2},{3,3},{81,21}})do n,l=GetItemInfo(v[1]+71635)print(l,": ",(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(v[2]+29443) and "\124cff00ff00TURNED IN" or "\124cffff0000NOT TURNED IN".."\124r"))end
After running it you should see each artifact's name and either "TURNED IN" or "NOT TURNED IN" next to it. If you see a bunch of nil's instead just run it again.

Rudag+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Those quests give good xp. For low lvl alts set of those items give full level up. If you have time and patience you can level alts only coming to DMF once a month. I have 5 ~lvl50 alts that did zero questing, dungeons and effort thanks to that.

Grahran+3via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Since the Shadowlands pre-patch released, it appears that the developers have reduced/removed the level requirements for use of these artefacts. Good news for alts and lower-level characters.
