This is one of the items that your [item=71634] can help you find. [item=71634] is from [npc=10445], who resides in the first tent on your left as you enter the Darkmoon Faire.

[b]Turning in this item is part of 2 achievements:[/b] [achievement=6028] and [achievement=6029]

The artifacts needed for [achievement=6028] are: [quote][ol] [li][item=71953] & [quest=29458][/li] [li][item=71951] & [quest=29456][/li] [li][item=71952] & [quest=29457][/li] [/ol][/quote]

Collecting all the Darkmoon Faire Artifacts rewards [achievement=6029]. The full list of Darkmoon Faire Artifacts is: [quote][ol] [li][item=71953] & [quest=29458][/li] [li][item=71951] & [quest=29456][/li] [li][item=71952] & [quest=29457][/li] [li][item=71635] & [quest=29443][/li] [li][item=71636] & [quest=29448]/[quest=29444][/li] [li][item=71637] & [quest=29445]/[quest=29449][/li] [li][item=71638] & [quest=29446]/[quest=29450][/li] [li][item=71716] & [quest=29464]/[quest=29465][/li] [li][item=71715] & [quest=29451][/li] [/ol][/quote]

[quote]The Darkmoon Faire Field Guide

It’s your passport to riches, my friend. Y’see, we need a few things -- just some junk, nothing valuable to a big hero like you. [u]We call ‘em Darkmoon Artifacts, and there’s all different kinds to be found all over Azeroth. The Darkmoon Field Guide helps you discover artifacts while you’re explorin’ dungeons, slayin’ monsters, and fightin’ in Battlegrounds. Without a guide, you’d never notice ‘em, and it’ll help keep you focused on the stuff we want. [/u]Whether you just reached level 10, or you’ve crushed the biggest baddies in the land, we need somethin’ from nearly everybody. You won’t have to go too far out of your way to get ‘em and each month you’ll get a new opportunity to seek out an Artifact for us. What do you get out of the deal? Don’t you worry, you’ll get your cut. When you bring a Darkmoon Artifact back to us, you’ll get valuable experience (it builds character, you know!), earn a better reputation, and possibly earn precious Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets too![/quote]

I can confirm [item=71953], [item=71951], [item=71952] drop by looting dead enemies in a battleground. edit: also at the moment of writing you can only complete a quest once. I got another [item=71952] and when used I was met with the message "You have completed that quest." It's gonna take a couple of months to get all the pets and mounts.

Aislinge+5via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

There's not much info on how the PvP items come about. I received a [item=71952] while looting a body in Isle of Conquest. So far, I've not received anything for capturing bases, flags, towers etc or for winning a battleground. So, all I can say is make sure you loot those bodies!

MaccaSvenne+2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

This, like the other two new Darkmoon Faire-related items starting a quest, can be looted in BGs by removing the insignia off an enemy. The droprate seems fairly high as well. I estimate I got 4 of these (1 duplicate for which there is no use, at least until next month if it turns out to be a monthly quest) from about 15-20 corpses.

668582+17via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Please keep in mind that the quest is not repeatable during one DMF festival. After you complete the quest you cannot get it for the second time, as it states when you use an item for the second time "You have already completed this quest". In other words - you can do the quest once every month. Now, to all the naysayers, Blizzard has confirmed that these quests are to be repeated each month. [url=http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3657441916?page=25#485]Source[/url] They have also stated that the quest drops that happen in the dungeons/raids/BG’s happen all the time, even if the faire isn’t in town. I'd recommend going to Isle of Conquest to farm for this. It's a 40-man, so there are a lot of people dying, and it has a lot more actual PvP than Alterac Valley. Most active combat is near the keeps, and the enemy keep is often your best bet. A few stragglers will periodically rez, only to be torn up by your own forces, leaving behind their corpses, fresh for looting. Be sure you're the first to snag their insignia; this isn't group loot.

[b]What is this?[/b] This item [item=71953] starts the quest [quest=29458] that you can turn in with the Darkmoon Faire whenever it is in town.

[b]How do I get it?[/b] In order to be eligible to loot this, you must have the [item=71634] in your [s]bags[/s] inventory - which can be obtained in one of two ways: [ul] [li]Receive it as a reward from [url=http://www.wowhead.com/npc=14828]Gelvas Grimegate[/url] after completing [url=http://www.wowhead.com/quest=7905]The Darkmoon Faire[/url] for Alliance or [url=http://www.wowhead.com/quest=7926]The Darkmoon Faire[/url] for Horde.[/li] [li]Receive it from [url=http://www.wowhead.com/npc=10445]Selina Dourman[/url] just by talking to her, she stands at the first tent on the left-side of the entrance to the Darkmoon Faire. [small]Note: if you have The Darkmoon Faire quest in your quest log, Selina will not offer to give you the guide - you will either need to drop the quest and speak to her again or simply hand in at which point you get the guide anyway.[/small] [/li] [/ul]

[b]Where do I get it?[/b] [ul] [li]This particular item can be looted by removing insignias from fallen enemies in battlegrounds.[/li] [/ul]

[b]Why do I want it?[/b] There are several reasons that you may want this item: [ul] [li]Receive 5 [url=http://www.wowhead.com/currency=515]Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/url] upon handing it in - these tickets allow you to purchase mounts, pets and other collectibles whenever the Darkmoon Faire is on.[/li] [li]Receive 250 reputation [small](or more depending on your racial/guild bonuses etc)[/small] with the [url=http://www.wowhead.com/faction=909]Darkmoon Faire[/url] - great for anyone who is either a rep junkie or is working towards [url=http://www.wowhead.com/title=145]The Insane[/url] title awarded by the [url=http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=2336]Insane in the Membrane[/url] achievement.[/li] [li]Having completed the quest that this item starts will count towards the achievements [achievement=6028] and [achievement=6029].[/li] [li]Gold gold GOLD - since this item isn't BoP (bind on pickup), it is tradable and sellable via the auction house. If you don't care about the above three points, then you can profiteer from someone who does![/li] [/ul]

[b]What else do I need to know?[/b] [ul] [li]The quest can only be turned in once per Darkmoon Faire. You can certainly collect more of these, however if you've turned in for the current faire, you'll have to wait till it's next in town.[/li] [li]This item can be looted anytime - that is to say, the Darkmoon Faire [b]does not[/b] have to be currently on in order for you to be able to find these puppies.[/li] [/ul]

[b]What other Darkmoon Faire drops are there?[/b] [ul] [li][item=71951] -> [quest=29456] = 5 x [url=http://www.wowhead.com/currency=515]Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/url][/li] [li][item=71952] -> [quest=29457] = 5 x [url=http://www.wowhead.com/currency=515]Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/url][/li] [li][item=71635] -> [quest=29443] = 10 x [url=http://www.wowhead.com/currency=515]Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/url][/li] [li][item=71636] -> [quest=29444] = 10 x [url=http://www.wowhead.com/currency=515]Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/url][/li] [li][item=71637] -> [quest=29445] = 10 x [url=http://www.wowhead.com/currency=515]Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/url][/li] [li][item=71638] -> [quest=29446] = 10 x [url=http://www.wowhead.com/currency=515]Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/url][/li] [li][item=71716] -> [quest=29464] = 10 x [url=http://www.wowhead.com/currency=515]Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/url][/li] [li][item=71715] -> [quest=29451] = 15 x [url=http://www.wowhead.com/currency=515]Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/url][/li] [/ul]

Will frequently amend and extend this post as users request it or as I learn more.

You can loot these and sell them. Now I turned in the quest, and managed to loot three of these in one BG. So at the very least I know you can loot many of them while off the quest. I do not know if you can have more than one on the quest. Hope this helps.

6 Jan 2012 - Quote from a CM on the forums (Kaivax): [quote] Attempting to turn in the [item=71953] and [item=71952] which are associated with these quests “The Captured Journal” and “The Enemy's Insignia”. If you are having difficulty turning in these items, please contact our customer service department at http://us.battle.net/support/en/ and they will be able to provide you with 5 Darkmoon Prize Tickets per item.[/quote]

I was affected by the bug so asked a GM and got my tickets I would have lost, just to confirm.

Edit: [url=http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3161499235?page=3#56]This should also be fixed by the next Faire (Feb 5th).[/url]

I ran into a bug, if you have the item previously named Adventurer's Journal, and had picked up the quest but didnt turn it in before the name change...the quest disappears from your log but you still cannot pick up the quest again...the way i fixed it was to destroy the item, /reload ui, and to get another one and take the quest again...

kanegasi+4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Keep in mind that the current drop statistics in the "Dropped by" tab are incorrect. The Wowhead looter addon has had an unfixable bug for a long time that, if exploited, can make almost anything recorded as dropped from anything you choose. Given some of the incorrect drop tabs I've seen, I assume the code marks what you are targeting as the drop source since you target the looted mob as you are looting it. This is why there are some mobs in this drop list in AV. Someone either accidentally or purposely targeted one of those mobs while taking an enemy's insignia. A player character's corpse is not recordable in Wowhead's database.

Here is a macro for quickly determining which Darkmoon Artifacts you've turned in so far for that month... [code]/run for k,v in pairs({{80,8},{316,13},{317,14},{318,15},{0,0},{1,1},{2,2},{3,3},{81,21}})do n,l=GetItemInfo(v[1]+71635)print(l,": ",(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(v[2]+29443) and "\124cff00ff00TURNED IN" or "\124cffff0000NOT TURNED IN".."\124r"))end[/code] After running it you should see each artifact's name and either "TURNED IN" or "NOT TURNED IN" next to it. If you see a bunch of nil's instead just run it again.

Pizzapotamus+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

[s]This seems to only print the quest name if I have that quest item in my bags.[/s] This was even weirder than I thought. When I first ran it, every line of output began with "nil", save for the one I had in my bag. I tried changing the lower-case L after "print" to a 1 to see if it was a syntax error and that just printed "1" on each line, so I changed it back. After doing that, running it now works perfectly. /scratchhead

Rudag+3via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Those quests give good xp. For low lvl alts set of those items give full level up. If you have time and patience you can level alts only coming to DMF once a month. I have 5 ~lvl50 alts that did zero questing, dungeons and effort thanks to that.

Grahran+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Since the Shadowlands pre-patch released, it appears that the developers have reduced/removed the level requirements for use of these artefacts. Good news for alts and lower-level characters.
