Where decor comes from

  • Reported: player housing gives each warband a permanent plot and a house you furnish with decor. Limited early access opened in patch 11.2.7 on December 2, 2025 and the full system arrived with Midnight in patch 12.0.0 on January 20, 2026. One house per district, shared by every character in the warband (Warcraft Wiki, read October 5, 2026).
  • Reported: the maximum house level is 12 as of patch 12.1.0, and obtaining a decor item for the first time earns house experience (Warcraft Wiki).
  • Reported: decor comes from quests, achievements, drops including raid and dungeon bosses, professions, reputation and renown, neighborhood vendors, Endeavors and Delves (Icy Veins, read October 5, 2026).
  • Game data: the client ships a RetroactiveDecorReward table that links 244 decor items to the quest or achievement that grants it.
  • Game data: renown reward lines name the vendor and place for 11 decor items. For every other vendor item the inventory lives on Blizzard's servers and we do not guess it.

Sources and method

  • Decor catalog: World of Warcraft client build 12.1.0.69933, first seen September 22, 2026, read from the game files (HouseDecor plus its category, tag and dye tables). 2,274 decor items after internal test names are dropped.
  • Source counts: the same reads each guide page uses, counted by distinct decor.
  • Data read October 5, 2026 21:39 UTC.
  • Not in the game files: vendor inventories and the currency a vendor charges (ItemExtendedCost) are set on Blizzard's servers. We name a vendor only when Blizzard's own renown reward line names it, and we never guess a cost.
  • Lines marked Reported come from the linked article, read October 5, 2026. Everything else on this page is computed from the game data above.
