Iskaaran Harpoon

How to use it:

Up the coast from the blocked net spot at the River Mouth Fishing Hole, there is a "Large Lunker Sighting" totem sitting in the water. Using 5 "Ominous Conch" summoned an 'elite' Gigantic Thresher(I say 'elite' because it only had ~87k HP). It sat in the water staring at me, and I was able to use my harpoon to initiate a fishing minigame much like the harpoon world quests that pop up.

Every so often, it'll pull you towards the water. Using your 'tug' extra action button ability pulls it closer and seems to deplete some of its 'Fish Rage'. I was not able to drag it to shore alone, eventually it'd pull me into the water, run away, then begin casting 'Going Deep'. Just like how most everyone else probably did those harpooning World Quests, you can kill the mob manually rather than dragging it on land. Doing so net me two grey trash items, a single Thousandbite Piranha and one Copper Coin of the Isles.

I don't know if you get rewards for doing it the right way. this video(which also shows where to find the Large Lunker Sighting) shows the conches summoning a hydra with a LOT more HP. Presumably, this would take more players to harpoon in?

Looking forward to what other people figure out for this.

Added: Found some people summoning the Hydra you see from the video. He didn't try to retreat to the depths, and we were able to fight him on shore. Harpoons were still used, and could be used to yank the Hydra, interrupting his casts. He dropped a few items, but his loot seems daily locked.

Also, while doing random fishing and looting an Ominous Conch, a "looking for lunkers" cast bar popped up after catching something, which spawned a shark I could harpoon in and 'catch'.

FOR ALTS: The fishing perks from the Tuskaar are account-wide. Once one toon has unlocked one, all alts can build the item. The alts will, however, need certain fishing skill levels to unlock most of the items which are NOT account-wide (the net didn't require a certain skill, but for the rest, some need 25 and some 50 - click on the item in the build list to see what is required.) For the harpoon, 25 in fishing is required.

I did not get a quest to build the harpoon for my alt once I got her to 25 fishing. I am not sure if this was a glitch or normal. I tried the usual relogging but still no quest so went on my way figuring it would appear in a day or two. Then much to my surprise, I found one of the 3 build items. So I used Varenne's comments and waypoints to just pick up the others. Note: Fisherman Tinnak's Ghost requires you to loot 3 items in the immediate area to summon his ghost.

So go grab the items if you don't get the quest, but meet the requirements to build.

Edit: Not gotten a quest on several alts now so I guess that's normal, so just make sure you are leveling fishing and on your main, watch for when your renown hits a perk and then grab on everyone!

YOU CAN TURN OFF LUNKERS BY JUST BANKING YOUR HARPOON

Does this get consumed on use does anyone know?

If you're confused, like me, why you couldn't see the item on the Anvil -- you need to have at least 25 skill in Dragonflight Fishing.

I just crafted this item and went to summon a mob near the Large Lunker Sighting north of the River mouth Fishing Hole using 5 [item=194701], and [npc=193710] popped up in the water (counts towards special encounters in Waking Shore) with some 2mill health (not in a group).

When you use your harpoon you gain a tug-of-war ability as your extra action button, when you use it you drag the mob towards you. When the mob was in the water it was casting its abilities at me, however after continuously spamming my ability while walking towards land I got it out of the water, where it stopped doing any abilities and just tried to walk back towards the water. So while spamming the harpoon ability to keep it on land I dps'ed it down by myself and got a 372 [item=200164] without socket and 50 Iskaara rep as a reward. I was 371 ilvl when killing it if anyone wonders whether that has an influence on the ilvl of any loot.

Ok so, one spot to use this is north of the River Mouth Fishing Hole (65, 74) is a whale tail totem in the water. Using the [item=194701] (x5) on it spawns a "Lunker" then it's time to play fish fight. Good Luck :)

So aside from an occasional achievement, it's just one slot gone from your bags, correct?

It is super easy to just burn down the lunker with abilities, does it drop more fish when you drag it with the harpoon? Otherwise I don't see the point

The "items from the ground" needed to spawn the ghost after you interact with the Broken Fishing Pole are the Torn Fishing Net found at 49:38 and the Old Harpoon found at 49:38. The ghost, named Fisherman Tinnak, spawned at the Old Harpoon location after I clicked it (it was the last item I needed). He dropped the Tattered Seavine and some Dragon Isle Supplies for me and granted 50 Iskaara Tuskarr rep.

The map icon looks like the Iskaaran Fishing Hook, FYI.

varenne , you are the real MVP! You not only explain where the items are but you give a little youtube video to help out. It's nice. Not everyone uses coords so it's nice when someone actually takes the time out to explain where something is other than posting coords. Cheers to you!

I seem to have lost mine, went to Tavio and don't have the option to recreate it. I looked through my inventory and my bank and it is not in either of them. Not sure where else to look,

if you have joined one of the lunker farm groups that are currently getting more popular in game, here is a helpful macro that will allow you to spam one button and not interrupt your lunker sensing channel, which triggers automatically when you loot an ominous conch.

I found the extra two, a "Torn Fishing Net" at 49.9 38.1 and an "Old Harpoon" at 49.2 38.4. Relatively clear to see highlighted in purple.

You have to have 7 renown AND 25 in Dragon Isles Fishing skill

Does not get consumed on use, spam to your content! I recommend binding it to a key if you're going to get a lunker!

I tossed the shells into the water and instead of a shark, a neutral lvl 72 elite water elemental spawned - Seereel, the Spring <Lunker>

For those that do use TomTom coordinates, here is the location where I found the items needed to spawn [npc=193691] who should spawn after you collect the last item. Hopefully, they are the same for you. 1:- /way #2024 50.4, 36.6 Broken Fishingpole. 2:- /way #2024 49.98, 38.2 Torn Fishing Net. 3:- /way #2024 49.2, 38.4 Old Harpoon Head.

This is a great tip. I'm renown 13 and I just mailed one to all my alts (who fish), one after the other.

the harpoon bypasses the normal 5 player max tagging rule so that you can party in a raid group and everyone who harpoons it gets loot. This lets you farm for Ominous Conches (and the subsequently spawned Lunkers) extremely quickly.

After you interact with the fishing pole a 'hook' symbol will appear on your minimap where the items are (two separate locations).

You must have 7 renown.

I just assigned the ~/` key (left of the "1" key) to Extra Action Button 1. It works great for harpoons and many other things such as "Yes Chef" and dumping goodies in the pot.

Finally found mine in my warband bank. Check there if you seemed to have lost it.

Bonus objective "Fisherman Tinnak's Ghost" popped up for me in the The Azure Span at /way #2024 50.1 36.1

I had to collect 3x items (Old Harpoon, Torn Fishing Net, and Broken Fishing Pole) on the ground (do not leave the bonus objective's area while doing that, it will reset your progress) and with the last one, [npc=193691] spawned and dropped the [item=198070].

For the Wooden Pole, I checked all 3 spots before picking one up - #1 and #2 were both up, #3 was not there. #1 had mobs around it (2 or more depending on how you come in), #2 was the furthest away (but somewhat on the way to the Seavine) and had no mobs anywhere close. Recommend #2,

Anvil is being worked by repair vendor. Wooden Pole waypoint 1 is surrounded by a sparse group of Tarasek. Broken Fishingpole is on (the snows near) an ice lake.

If you want to cast harpoon and pull with one button use macro:

I stumbled upon the items on the ground to spawn the ghost without knowing he would spawn or drop the tattered seavine, then went back to town and accidentally found the harpoon head, then looked up where to find the pole. The other two harpoon items are not required to spawn the ghost at all.

Does anyone know why occasionally I get "Invalid Target" error popping up?

I'm targeting the right fish and after two or three goes it will work. Tried "reload ui" but didn't help.

So I'm confused why I can't craft this? I have fishing at 89 and renown at 12 almost 13 and it still says I need to be at least renown 7 or have fishing at at least 25 which I have both. The harpoon head is not on the anvil.

I don't think it's mentioned here, but one thing that initially confused me was that when you find the 3 items needed to spawn Fisherman Tinnak's Ghost and you click on them, nothing happens. I expected the items to show up in my bags so I thought there was some bug or unmet requirement to complete this. Nope, you interact with the 3 items and then the ghost spawns, no actual in-bag items involved.

Picking up the pole makes the net visible. Picking up the net makes the harpoon visible. Picking up the harpoon spawns the target.

If you are looking for the Harpoon Head, it is on the anvil which is about 5 degrees north of Taivo and the Inn, about 7-10 steps will get you there.

Is this solo-able? I've been trying for 2 hours...

I had 8 renown but 24 skill in fishing and I could not see any of the items. Not the anvil or the wooden pole ones. As soon as I got fishing 25 I could see and collect all of them.

Thanks - this also worked for me. I already had 12 renown and all quests completed and couldn't see any of the items. Checked at 16 and 20 fishing nearby and saw nothing. As soon as I leveled fishing to 25, the item on the anvil spawned.

I went from 0 to 24 and went back to the anvil just to test the theory. It was available at 24 skill, but idk when it "really" became available. One person claimed to get it at 16, so there's a chance it's 10 or 15
