Crystalforged War Axe

The Crystalforged War Axe is a great weapon for an MS warrior in the expansion. It's one of the few slower weapons aside from the blacksmithing epics which leads to its nice high top end. It has a lot of crit ~1.5% and an huge amount of attack power (180 for a warrior). If you haven't found anything better yet when you ding 69 go buy one of these, they are disgustingly cheap for their ability do to the very high number of mobs that drop them.

It was not 180 AP for warr, it was 'only' 140.. (+45str and +50AP)

By my maths, in the previous incarnation, this weapon was pretty overpowering: +50 str gave 100AP, added to the 80AP equip bonus = 180AP. Throw a Savagery (+70AP) enchant on it and you had 250AP from a single weapon. I'm sure 250AP must seem pretty overpowered, but only for warriors *cough* druid two-handers *cough*

It was 50Str on the Axe definitely and iirc they didn`t change the 80 ATK

This is the best 2H weapon you can get as a warrior prior to level 70. This is nice when you want to spend time in the 69 battleground bracket. [url=http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27524]Firemaul of Destruction[/url] has better stats, but it's an instance drop. And since Crystalforged is BoE, you can get it with no sweat at the auction house.

As of patch 2.0.10 this weapon provides 100 health and 80 attack power for warriors, instead of the previous 180 attack power.

In 2.0.10, this Axe was changed from "+50 Strength" to "+50 Stamina".

Can anybody confirm this? I would be really disapointed if this is true. I bought this axe for its great AP (+50str), not +50 stam.

If the change goes through this would make an excellent hunter weapon, lots of AP, crit, and stamina, better than Terok's quill and something that you can use for a good long while. It's still a good warrior weapon, but the big draw was that it was 180AP from a single item, that's not something that you can find all the time.

I won this on a greed-roll the other night with my female orc hunter. It was close since I am pushing for a high-agility build, but the stats and looks won out; it looks wicked sexy on her!

Well, i have this weapon and it has +50 str... i hope it stays that way after the patch. The damage is massive, i have crusader on it and 2 trinkets that gives +200 AP for 10 secs and the mortals are sweet.

Since today new patch the 50+ strength was changed to 50+ stam now making it a pretty good weapon for a hunter :) just bought mine for 73g.

Really, I don't think that is possible. Everything has to be the same on every realms.

I've had this weapon on my warrior for a few weeks now. I don't mind having some stamina when I farm/PVP, but I really liked the extra 100 AP much more. There are a variety of high stamina weapons already, sad to see this one join those ranks.

best pvp? best everything, IMO. I have not found one raiding weapon that will replace it. Not even arena weapons. I don't care about my melee DPS. 1200-1300 raptor strike crits are nice enough.

Got this enchanted with the "old school" +25 Agility, and it's equivalent to Terrok's Quill, if not in fact better. Until Murmur decides to drop his Sonic Spear for me this is going to be the only thing I use on my hunter.

I noticed it says "This item only drops in heroic mode." but i was plowing some old quests in Shadowmoon Valley inside the Deathforge when this item dropped for me. It was on a corpse i almost forgot to loot.. so for those who quick read for drops... UPDATE!! Drops off NPC's inside deathforge, it was actually on one of the guards that pats with those firelord guys. the little gnome looking technician guys!

Might have just been a glitch, I got a Cenarion Expedition blacksmithing recipe (the rune of shielding I think it was) off the last mob before Warchief Kargath Bladefist in Shattered Halls. It rocks when it does happen, though.

This Axe is a good Axe for a Hunter tanking of Kiggler the Crazed in the High King Maulgar fight in Gruul's Lair. With the combonation of Stam, AP , and Crit it make you be able to have more HP while being able to Keep the aggro on you and off your healers in the raid. If you going to this event and are expected it's worth the investment if it is in the AH.

exactly, this is the best choice for a hunter for his +sta gear since i dont know any other wpn that would grant you so much hp, as for dps its better to use sonic spear or the thrallmar one

Heres how i see it layed out as a 70 MS warrior: my favorite out of these, and what i'm currently using, is http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28253#M0z it has a slower attack speed, pumping out higher dmg on MS and whirlwind (if you go berserker stance) along wit the direct crit rating and basic war stats i just find it the most useful out of them. its also a easy drop from a easier instance (from First boss of mechanar) its not amazingly hard too grab. second, everyone's favorite, the Crystalforged war axe. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=31291 Meh, i bought this for 69, and found it pretty useless. the dps is lower then most of the other weapons i had laying around. while the stats are nice (80 AP for sure) i don't think the damage is worth it in the end. Save the money and spend it on the flying mount you'll need next level. last is the crow wing ripper, from Sethekk halls. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27986#M0z This is the only one of these i have'nt gotten, it drops from the last boss of sethekk halls. while the instance is short, the drop rate on this thing gets on my nerves after awhile. I don't think this is worth running sethekk halls for, considering theres the polearm from mech at a better drop rate. it has lower end MS damage due too lower attack speed, and no direct + crit rating. while the red sockets are nice, i don't think its worth running then buying gems for. some runner ups are http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29329#M0z which has low dmg with higher attack speed, but you might end up sing it at 66 since its free from a quest. also noteworthy, http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27903 A nice weapon too have, but pass it too a hunter if theres one in the party. like the quill its more hunter loot, agi stam and some other neat things on there for em. but its solid MS dmg and the stats could help. likely the hardest one of all these too get, being from the last boss of shadow labyrinth. hope this all helped any indecsive warriors, and know that most of these are arguable, this just being mah opinion.

It should also be noted that these weapons, while definitely nice (I use option 2 with Savagery :P), you are not taking into consideration the PvP and Blacksmithing items. While the blue High Warlord's Decapitator (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28918 also see Grand Marshal equiv.) is very nice damage and stats and is a cheap alternative to all these items without having to run instances too much, it's too much honor and marks for what you actually get. This weapon is HUGE. On a tauren i covers most of the back, and clips into the cloak. when holding it in hand, it actually clips into the ground. See screenshots.

I've seen these things go for as low as 30 Gold on our server (Skywall US). If you don't want to wait for the dropped items, this is a very good starter weapon for MS PvP warriors that can be had for pretty cheap.

It scales to your character. so that means, if you are litarally, a cow its going to be pretty big isn't it?

A very nice PvP weapon thanks to tons of stamina, and the crit rating just adds to its beauty. Looks great too.

dropped in a heroic ramparts chest for my hunter. I took it for pvp but i kept it for all because its good but my old pol can be bought cheap *thrallmar rep one*

Great weapon for Hunters, especially BM Hunters who rely on pet damage. With the +crit rating, you can expect Kill Command to proc a lot more often (over Terokk's Quill). I purchased this axe out of frustration from running SLABS for the 13th time and not getting the Sonic Spear. And, personally, I think this may be the better way to go for a BM Raid-spec Hunter.

For Hunters, this weapon has now pretty much been superseded by the [url=http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34014]Vengeful Gladiator's Waraxe[/url] which has the following improvements over this axe: +12 stam +15 hit +19 crit +33 res +12 ap +98 ignore armor. Plus, it's only 1000 arena points.

Any weapon is only a proper alternative to this one, if it is available from the AH. Not everyone does PvP.

You can't efficiently compare a PvE weapon to a PvP weapon. ESPECIALLY because this axe can be equipped at level 69, where as the PvP axe, can't be even obtained till level 70, and after a rather lengthy process of arena battles. On a similar note, any level 70 PvP 2h axe is better than this one.

This is unlike the crystalforged sword a random world drop. Even though they are both "crystalforged" they are obtained using different methods.

This weapon is kinda bugged on Blood Elf Female Hunter. After you have shot, the axe will be no longer shown on your back until you sheath it back.

EDIT: It happens with all axes if you are shooting with bow.

Happening with my male Troll hunter too. But when it happens only I fail to see the weapon. Other party members, when asked, told me they saw the axe on my back as normal, while I wasn't seeing it from my monitor.

I got this one i from the auction house for 85 gold.I have noticed that most of the items sell more expensive than some other servers and many items are above the average price but it's a great weapon I had to get it for my warrior.

So...when I see that this doesn't share a model with any other items, I can assume it's the one and only item with this graphic? I only wonder because the NPC Commander Arcus at the Altar of Sha'tar in SMV carries a pinkish version.

this is really nice if you can get iron counterweight on it, but dor a hunter its almost perfect in RAP.
