Before farming the materials to craft this awesome looking mace, consider this:
Torturer's Mercy(Drops from the first boss in Blackrock Caverns)
Same stats, except Torturer's Mercy has four more Spirit in exchange for eight less Mastery points than the Elementium Hammer.
So unless your class/spec needs more mastery than spirit, I'd save your materials. I, for one will probably just make this for my elemental shaman anyway since I already bought the pattern and it looks so cool.-Eric
It would appear that the BS crafted weapons were epics at some point, and then reduced to blues, but without changing the material requirements. The crafted armor epics are considerably cheaper than this 346 rare item.
Truegold prices have come down quite a bit already, under 1K on my server (Steamwheedle Cartel US). If you have a smith friend with the orbs, or you're a smith yourself, you can make this weapon for a reasonable price soon, if not now. After having appalling luck with weapon drops, I commissioned one for my elemental shaman. It does look very striking, and once Hurricaned turned out to be an excellent upgrade.

I did the same thing you did. After a couple of weeks of farming weapon drops with no success, the 6k it cost me to have this crafted was more then worth it. I can make the gold back more easily.
Great Mace, But Unfortunately, I doubt any will be crafted for a while. 6x Trueguld at a minimum of 2k apiece is a bit much considering that there are quite a few Heroic drops with essentially the same stats.

Right now this is currently my best option. I wonder if the epic mats were intentionally not reduced with the stats when this became a boe blue, or hopefully this is waiting for a hotfix. Those mats are absurd for an item of this level but due to availiability Im still considering it. This entire situation is just foolish on its face..
One thing that strikes me as strange is the huge DPS difference between this mace and Torturer's Mercy that you mentioned. I'm going to assume that's just stale data on WoWhead and if we were to check them on Live we'd probably see that all caster maces have been brought down to negligible DPS to stop enhancement shamans wanting them?
Can you post the in-game stats of this mace? The wowhead stats and the in-game BS Tooltips disagree on it. I'm curious what the actual weapon has on it. See this: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/item/55065
The WoWHead stats are what the actual stats are. There was a hotfix that reduced the damage of ALL caster weapons to prevent Enhancement shamans from using them due to the way Flametongue Weapon scales in Cata (they are also nerfing FT in the next patch). WoWHead stats are the correct stats to go by.
i disagree.. i didnt have a problem getting it.. i went in and it dropped my first time.. even got an ach for finishing the heroic version
well good for you. but not everyone is so lucky to get all the drops they need on their first run
Good to know my DK alt (mining/BS) can make something useful for my priest alt (herb/alch), and that my priest can help by transmuting the truegold.
