For the love of GOD do not use this. Use the Truegold transmute, because this is a cooldowned transmute (not like the titanium bars) and it shares a cooldown with truegold.

Cant believe this is still on a CD, jeez
The cooldown is incorrect, this is a once a day transmute.

This is still on a reset-at-midnight-cooldown, and is shared with Living Steel, so do not fall for the temptation of using this to level Alchemy. If you do, you effectivly lose one Living Steel transmute..like I did.
Many Alchemy cooldowns now reset once a day, at midnight (server time). If you transmute at 8PM, the cooldown will be 4 hours. If you then transmute immediately after the reset at midnight, the cooldown will be 24 hours.
To create an icon to drag to your action bar for quick access, use this script;
Transmute: Pyrium Bar:

On my server its better to sell the mats and buy the pyrium bars, you get about 5 bars for the price of the mats to do the transmute. I'm sure that will change over time and per server/faction, but something to consider before doing this transmute.
unless....i dunno....u are leveling from 520-525 and dont have the mats/cash to spunk on alternative recipes
Once I hit 525 I very quickly realized that the truegold x-mute that everyone was raving about was only profitable if you got the mats dirt cheap or got a proc from transmute spec. If someone is looking to make money, these mats are so obscenely cheap you get a huge profit margin on these. Granted you aren't playing the "I win 2k gold lottery" that the truegold x-mute can be, but you are almost tripling your money (on my server) plus whatever you get from mastery. If you are just making and selling, this is the way to go.
hey might be a dumb question but with transmute mastery since this already makes 3 bars can it proc up to 15 or is it still just the 5?
I had the opportunity to test this because I ran out of mats for truegold. With one transmute alch I got 4 bars instead of 3. So it's not a multiplier working here but an [if proc then add 1 to 5 bars] formula.
If you have access to a 525 miner, you may wish to smelt Pyrite Ore instead: Smelt Pyrite. Smelting makes one bar per two ore, but has no cooldown.
Just an update, still on a daily CD. The Truegold I'm gunning for in the end to make Vial of the Sands hasn't been on the daily reset for multiple xpacks now, but stupid Pyrium bars are what's still slowing me down making mounts x.x
You'd in theory, make up to 7 bars, as a transmute proc can make anything between 1 and 4 additional items from your transmute. So while you are always guaranteed 3, a full Transmute Proc would provide an additional bonus of 4, making a maximum of 7.
Not only that, the CD is shared across 3 expacs.
It adds one to four. So with no proc you get 3, with the biggest proc you get 7.
Now I know why the mount is for sale at 60k. Only cost about 30k or so to make, but this dang CD adds weeks to the build. CD tied in with Living Elements, so run out of volatile anything and you are out grinding to get more.
People will transmute what makes the most gold. e.g. 3 bars of pyrium nets me 700g total profit while buying pyrium and transmuting truegold nets me 300g.
Except the gem xmutes are yellow to 525 and dont have a cooldown. if your an alchemist, you should have an herbalist to get the herbs, and gems arent that expensive, cheaper if you have a miner/jc.
I like your usage of the word 'spunk'
Raleka is right. And on Darkspear this is a money maker, but you lose money on the gem xmutes.
This is a money maker on my server as well, whereas truegold sells for much less than the mats to make it.
Nothing you smelt has a cooldowns. Cooldowns are generally associated with a) Research - alchemy, inscription, or otherwise; b)Xmutes of most types; c) Some rare crafts associated with a specific specialization like specific cloths in the tailoring profession
Thanks, although I think by the time you can transmute pyrium you can also start working on MOP stuff
Not only that guys, it appears to also share its cooldown with Transmute: Savage Blood. A cooldown that stretches over three expansions? That's crazy - I can't think of any other profession where this happens.
For some reason, doing this learned me a new Northrend transmutation. Not sure if intended or not, but it's a nice perk nonetheless.
If you want the mount, and don't have a lot of gold, you have to use this CD. You need the Pyrium to make the true gold.
What a ridiculous thing to have a cooldown on. No alchemist in their right mind will EVER use their CD on this when there's a much more profitable and important truegold they could have instead. Nice one Blizz - how's the weather with your heads firmly lodged up your ass?
