This is one of the items that your [item=71634] can help you find. [item=71634] is from [npc=10445], who resides in the first tent on your left as you enter the Darkmoon Faire.

Turning in this item is part of 2 achievements: [achievement=6027] and [achievement=6029]

The artifacts needed for [achievement=6027] are:
[ol] [li][item=71635] & [quest=29443][/li] [li][item=71636] & [quest=29448]/[quest=29444][/li] [li][item=71637] & [quest=29445]/[quest=29449][/li] [li][item=71638] & [quest=29446]/[quest=29450][/li] [li][item=71715] & [quest=29451][/li] [/ol]
Collecting all the Darkmoon Faire Artifacts rewards [achievement=6029]. The full list of Darkmoon Faire Artifacts is:
[ol] [li][item=71953] & [quest=29458][/li] [li][item=71951] & [quest=29456][/li] [li][item=71952] & [quest=29457][/li] [li][item=71635] & [quest=29443][/li] [li][item=71636] & [quest=29448]/[quest=29444][/li] [li][item=71637] & [quest=29445]/[quest=29449][/li] [li][item=71638] & [quest=29446]/[quest=29450][/li] [li][item=71716] & [quest=29464]/[quest=29465][/li] [li][item=71715] & [quest=29451][/li] [/ol]
As stated by Blizzard (Source):
The Darkmoon Faire Field Guide

It’s your passport to riches, my friend. Y’see, we need a few things -- just some junk, nothing valuable to a big hero like you. We call ‘em Darkmoon Artifacts, and there’s all different kinds to be found all over Azeroth. The Darkmoon Field Guide helps you discover artifacts while you’re explorin’ dungeons, slayin’ monsters, and fightin’ in Battlegrounds. Without a guide, you’d never notice ‘em, and it’ll help keep you focused on the stuff we want. Whether you just reached level 10, or you’ve crushed the biggest baddies in the land, we need somethin’ from nearly everybody. You won’t have to go too far out of your way to get ‘em and each month you’ll get a new opportunity to seek out an Artifact for us. What do you get out of the deal? Don’t you worry, you’ll get your cut. When you bring a Darkmoon Artifact back to us, you’ll get valuable experience (it builds character, you know!), earn a better reputation, and possibly earn precious Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets too!
Please keep in mind that the quest is not repeatable during one DMF festival. After you complete the quest you cannot get it for the second time, as it states when you use an item for the second time "You have already completed this quest". In other words - you can do the quest once every month. Now, to all the naysayers, Blizzard has confirmed that these quests are to be repeated each month. Source They have also stated that the quest drops that happen in the dungeons/raids/BG’s happen all the time, even if the faire isn’t in town. gtadem, I initially thought the same thing, but if you refer to the official Blizzard blog post on the new Darkmoone Faire (quoted a few comments above also), there's a line that says: "You won’t have to go too far out of your way to get ‘em and each month you’ll get a new opportunity to seek out an Artifact for us." That statement leads me to believe that they will be repeatable with each faire, as with the profession questions.

slythwolf+3via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

It does seem that being able to repeat these each month was intended, but as of right now I am unable to accept quests from the ones I turned in last month. I will try again after the dailies reset--it's just after midnight on my server.

Kinda mixed respons here.... So please somone confirm: Can this dropp from anything else than HC cata dungeons? Cause other posts keep mentioning Slabhide in The Stonecore and i would like to know if i should get a group of friends for HC, or just another 1 or 2 peoples for quick normal runs.

Known drops:
This item ONLY drop on HEROIC Cataclysm bosses, but at a much lower rate than the other quest items. The quest itself is also level85 so seems logic. You can ONLY roll GREED on this item, not NEED !

So have fun pugging with all those amazing 2k dps pug-people, and awesome tanks with sub 140k hp in blue PvP gear !

I suspect the drop rate could be as low as 5% on the bosses above. I farmed around 15 instances in total with main and alts before I saw the first drop. All those 15 instances included at least ONE of the previously confirmed drop spots. Feel free to add a reply if you find more places, so we can get a better picture of where it drop, and I will add it to the list !

What is this? This item [item=71715] starts the quest [quest=29451] that you can turn in with the Darkmoon Faire whenever it is in town.

How do I get it? In order to be eligible to loot this, you must have the [item=71634] in your [s]bags[/s] inventory - which can be obtained in one of two ways: [ul] [li]Receive it as a reward from Gelvas Grimegate after completing The Darkmoon Faire for Alliance or The Darkmoon Faire for Horde.[/li] [li]Receive it from Selina Dourman just by talking to her, she stands at the first tent on the left-side of the entrance to the Darkmoon Faire. [small]Note: if you have The Darkmoon Faire quest in your quest log, Selina will not offer to give you the guide - you will either need to drop the quest and speak to her again or simply hand in at which point you get the guide anyway.[/small] [/li] [/ul]

Where do I get it? This particular item ONLY drops from Cataclysm & Pandaren heroic 5-man dungeon bosses [small](it seems to drop from bosses with military titles)[/small]. The drop rates are also very low -- though if you RNG graces you favorably you may see one dropped by any of the following (drop locations will be updated as they are confirmed) listed in alphabetical order by boss name: [ul] [li][s]Asaad -- Vortex Pinnacle[/s] no longer listed in drop tables[/li] [li][npc=54938] -- [zone=5844][/li] [li]Ascendant Lord Obsidius -- Blackrock Caverns[/li] [li][npc=59223] -- [zone=6109][/li] [li][npc=56636] -- [zone=5976][/li] [li]Commander Springvale -- Shadowfang Keep[/li] [li]Commander Ulthok -- Throne of the Tides[/li] [li][s]Daakara -- Zul'Aman[/s] no longer listed in drop tables[/li] [li][npc=59080] -- [zone=6066][/li] [li][npc=61485] -- [zone=6214][/li] [li]General Umbriss -- Grim Batol[/li] [li]Grand Vizier Ertan -- The Vortex Pinnacle[/li] [li]High Prophet Barim -- Lost City of Tol'vir[/li] [li][s]Jin'do the Godbreaker -- Zul'Gurub[/s] no longer listed in drop tables[/li] [li][s][npc=40586] -- [zone=5004][/s] never confirmed[/li] [li][s][npc=54969] -- [zone=5788][/s] no longer listed in drop tables[/li] [li][s][npc=54432] -- [zone=5789][/s] no longer listed in drop tables[/li] [li][npc=56717] -- [zone=5963][/li] [li]Rajh -- Halls of Origination[/li] [li][npc=56439] -- [zone=5956][/li] [li]Slabhide -- The Stonecore[/li] [li][npc=61398] -- [zone=6182][/li] [/ul]

Why do I want it? There are several reasons that you may want this item: [ul] [li]Receive 15 Darkmoon Prize Tickets upon handing it in - these tickets allow you to purchase mounts, pets and other collectibles whenever the Darkmoon Faire is on.[/li] [li]Receive 250 reputation [small](or more depending on your racial/guild bonuses etc)[/small] with the Darkmoon Faire - great for anyone who is either a rep junkie or is working towards The Insane title awarded by the [achievement=2336] achievement.[/li] [li]Having completed the quest that this item starts will count towards the achievement [achievement=6029].[/li] [li]Gold gold GOLD - since this item isn't BoP (bind on pickup), it is tradable and sellable via the auction house. If you don't care about the above three points, then you can profiteer from someone who does![/li] [/ul]

What else do I need to know? [ul] [li]The quest can only be turned in once per Darkmoon Faire. You can certainly collect more of these, however if you've turned in for the current faire, you'll have to wait till it's next in town.[/li] [li]This seems to be the hardest of all the DMF quest items to obtain, primarily given that it only drops from end game heroic dungeons. But for the most part, just pray to the RNG gods and eventually they may answer you.[/li] [li]This item can be looted anytime - that is to say, the Darkmoon Faire does not have to be currently on in order for you to be able to find these puppies.[/li] [/ul]

What other Darkmoon Faire drops are there? [ul] [li][item=71953] -> [quest=29458] = 5 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71951] -> [quest=29456] = 5 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71952] -> [quest=29457] = 5 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71635] -> [quest=29443] = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71636] -> [quest=29444] = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71637] -> [quest=29445] = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71638] -> [quest=29446] = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [li][item=71716] -> [quest=29464] = 10 x Darkmoon Prize Tickets[/li] [/ul]

Why does no one mention Lady Naz'jar in Throne of the Tides for the treatise? That's where I got mine today. Not sure if that's a new change, or just extremely low drop rate, but not even the loot table for her at this site shows the treatise. Hopefully that will change soon, considering I've uploaded my data with the Wohead Client.

sandyra+1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

You're the first to mention Lady Naz'jar in Throne of the Tides (that I've seen). Happy to add it to the list on a 'to be confirmed' level. There are many bosses that don't show the Treatise in their drop table, and yet have Blizzard official sources verifying their drop chances. Wowhead Client helps a lot, but sometimes it still doesn't make it. Loot tables for Murozond and Mannoroth (as at 06/03/12) are perfect examples. Thanks for your feedback Netspook! :)

arkensis+34via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

A particular trend that I'm seeing regarding this item is that a lot of individuals are leaving their group following the deaths of the bosses that supposedly drop this item. Because the drop isn't guaranteed, and it generally drops from a non-final boss, it's causing a lot of groups to lose well-geared players who are running non-Hour of Twilight dungeons solely to obtain this.

917235+12via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Well ye, I tried to avoid doing this myself and if its not a horrid instance I still tend to stay for the whole run, but really after what.. 50 heroics now and only seen it drop once, and even then rolled the lowest.. ye sorry but starting to be a bit pissed.

812543+21via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Blizzard's master plan of trying to force well geared people back into these hell-hole dungeons failed miserabley. I would feel guilty about leaving, but after some of the people I've encountered while trying for this damned book I'm devoid of any sympathy.

Triforcia+26via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

A guildmate looted it from Daakara in Zul'Aman.

@ shadra Yes you have to carry the Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide with you to be able to roll greed for it. My twink didn't have the guide when it dropped in Zul'aman and I coudln't roll greed.

861982-4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Now this is strange, it was after the darkmoon faire during December that I had 5 of the quest items drop for me (perhaps even some during the faire early December) and I did not have a Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide book with me on any of my runs and I was able to greed roll on the item. Perhaps you meant to say need roll?

Alfa+21via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

I am guessing this is from Heroic dungeons. Not sure whether the new ones drop it or not. Tickets Per Faire Dungeon: 40 Heroic Dungeon: 15 Raid: 10 Tradeskill quests (primary): 8 Tradeskill quests (secondary): 12 BGs: 15 Kill Quest: 10 Mini Games*: 35 Total Tickets per faire: 145 Notice is says dungeon 40? The dungeon ones give ten each and there are four of them. Then there is the Heroic Dungeon that gives 15 and I am sure its talking about this one being in heroic dungeons. Source - http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3657441916?page=25#485

arkensis+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

For clarity - the above was taken from the a blue forum post, indicating the maximum number of Darkmoon Faire tickets that you can get each week the faire is available. The OP here is implying that the Treatise is only available from Heroic dungeons because it's the only item that gives 15 tickets on turn-in, and it's listed under Heroic Dungeons by the blue poster.

Tatahe+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

The 145 tickets limit per faire it's not correct. In fact you can get up to 425 tickets per faire. How? Easy, every time you loot the trinket from the arena chest you will get an extra 5 tickets, you can do it 8 times a day so 8*7=280+145=425. So the limit it's not right. In addition to this, in some servers the faire start before the daily quest reset, so you can do the dailies quest 8 times per faire instead of 7 (that's 5 more tickets) So the extreme limit is 430 tickets per faire. Good luck all.

shadra+0via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Actually, without the trinket, you can get max 150 per faire, do not forget that you can do dailies twices at the first day, faire hits at 00:00 at sunday, then it resets again at 04:00am sunday, means you can do mini games 8 times during a faire.
