When my Timerunner got this and read the quest for turn in the old D&D Player mind kicked in. I wondered what if this "Erus will be more than happy to take this from you and scrap it for a large reward" is just one possible thread in a plotline and if you scrap it yourself there is an alternative thread in the plot? What if Erus isn't what they seem? The quest just struck me as a possible fork. Hand in the item under the promise it would be destroyed by someone else, or destroy it yourself? Sadly I brought up the unraveling sands and the Bronze Simulacrum is not scrappable.
