This quest is weird. First I died in an ocean of fire (Killed by deathwing it said), after that (when dead) the fire was still there. I tried to find the spirit but couldn't so I resurrected, still no spirit. So i died again, went back there and resurrected again. THEN the spirit was there and I could finish the quest =)
