Opened about 45 chests with no drop, was getting more and more fustrated then I realised I was sitting in a raid group waiting for a karazan run.
Moral of the story, don't be an idiot like me!
to clarify for those new players to the game, or to raiding, quest items will not drop and quests objectives can not be met when you are in a Raid Group. Maybe Methadone's dose is too high.
