The Mark of the Nexus-King

I have this quest on my log and unfortunately, none of the helps here explain what this quest is all about. I have plenty of addons to tell me where it is, or how to kill him, what are the prerequisites, now that it's patch 4.3. This entire topic at this day seems so outdated, so basically if nothing here is helping you read further.

First, the purpose of this quest is not for Loremaster--I don't believe that it counts toward that, based on what others have said as I already have it. It is a quest chain to open up a certain heroic mode boss in Mana Tombs (Auchindoun) named Yor. He drops what would have been good rings at lvl 70. He also drops some transmogrifiable green set gear. Nothing fantastic but possibly fun to collect.

What you are supposed to do is basically grind your Ethereum Prison Keys. You need 5 keys then you convert them through the questgiver (Ameer--he's the guy on Bash'ir's Landing) to Ethereum Stasis Chamber Key.

Once you have 1 of the Ethereum Stasus Chamber Keys, you get to open up an Ethereum Stasus Chamber. So you're looking at a 5 to one ratio for every Status Chamber Keys you want, you need 5 of those Ethereum Prison Keys which is quite a hassle to begin with. But there's further annoyance--each Ethereum Stasus Chamber may or may not contain a "boss" you need who will drop the Mark of the Nexus-King. In other words, sometimes the Etherium Stasus Chamber contains a friendly NPC who gives you nothing (maybe a buff?) and thanks you for releasing him or her, plus maybe rep (I recall one being a Night Elf and giving me Cenariun Circle rep). So you may get a boss OR you may get a friendly. Who knows what percentage of the time you get a friendly versus a boss.

So, say you are lucky enough to get a boss. These bosses appear to be Ethereum Prisoners. (If you check that link, it says the Marks of the Nexus-King item is actually a 24% drop rate at this point in time.)

One problem is that Wowhead does not have an ID number for the Ethereum Stasus Chambers--just the Prisoners contained inside. So it's impossible to tell for me right now what percentage of what type of mobs that spawn from those chambers once you convert 5>1 keys from Ameer. So it's a RNG in an RNG, whether you get a boss or a friendly, and IF you get a boss, what % of the time the boss drops a Mark of the Nexus King.

You have to give 5 [Ethereum Prison Key] to the Image of Commander Ameer at Bash'ir's Landing to get a key for one stasis chamber.

After opening one of those chambers you have to fight a level 70 elite. I only did it once and i failed because i tried to solo it (lvl 70 warlock). It was immune to fear and its shadow bolts hit quite hard so I died at 75%. It could be possible with 3-4 people though.

According to a comment on the item [Mark of the Nexus-King], it doesn't drop every time. In his case he killed 6 bosses and it didn't drop.

As it is a green item I also think that only one group member is able to loot it.
