Confirmed. But you will only want this to 175 then you can get Mithril.

Because this is trained at 115 mining, and "Expert" mining can be learned at 125, if you're in (or near) town anyway, smelting a few gold bars is a quick way to get to 125 so you can train then and not have to go back later.
On my server most gold ore isn't even a gold each, so I got to about 115 I headed back to town, smelted 10 gold bars, then headed out to mine Iron so I wouldn't have to come back to town when I capped my skill.
