TheWoWDBDefinitely a good item for horde to top off cooking... much eaiser to get then the furious crawdads, and the Blackened Basilisk is the best food in the game for damage casters.
Best place for the Chunk O' Basilisk is from the Grishnath Basilisk in Grishnath in the northern part of Blade's Edge Mountains. They all spawn in the pool in the middle of Grishnath and are all pretty close together. Medium respawn rate.

Imo the best way to farm them is from killing Dampscale Devourer. They are all across the rivers north of firewing point at Terokkar forest. Even easier if u are a mage. U can aoe a lot of them. For me they got around 80% drop rate ;d
Yes, I can confirm that Dampscale Devourers in Terokkar Forest are indeed easy prey. They go down easily and thus easy to farm. On top of that droprate is superb, you can quickly farm up a couple of stacks of this food.
Perfect is also that the Chunk o' Basilisk is the only reagent for this recipe. Just farm up, run to a campfire and start cooking.
The healing counterpart is Golden Fish Sticks giving a buff to healing and spirit.
