TheWoWDBSome recipes require Motes, and some require Primals, this allows you to "switch" between them. Same with the Fire Sunder. Also, it helps for saving bag space. Say you have 5 stacks of motes. Change them into primals, and you have freed up 4 bag slots. Shatter the primal to get your motes back. :)

The reason it goes grey at 300 is to prevent miners from just getting one primal and shattering it and then turn the motes back into primal
I'm wondering what sort of use this would be.
