Stormchops

One thing worth mentioning is possible use of Stormchops in obtaining Critter Kill Squad achievement. One unmentioned and seemingly useless property of this food is that for 30 minutes you zap nearby critters with no participation from your side. Just as I type this, I have my character parked in Deeprun Tram where I discovered those rats respawn fairly quick. So, as I wait for the heroic random dungeon finder to have mercy on me and chat with my guildmates, my character zaps those poor rats for me without any effort from my side what so ever. I could even go and make myself a cup of coffee and it will continue killing those, even in (away) mode. So as long as you're logged in, the kills are slowly ticking away. Hope this helps.

Edit: Did it with my guild today. There simply isn't a bether way or a better place to do it! Coupla stacks of Stormchops and a group of 10-20 guildies spread around Ironforge side of Deeprun Tram and you have the achievment in no time! Critters respawn the second they are killed so all we had to do was ROFLMAO and /dance as we monitored the achievement progress numbers flying like crazy. As mentioned above, every kill counts towards every present guild member, meaning that if you have 10 guild memebers standing there, every critter killed counts like 10 so even those who were just standing there not killing anything were contributing! All in all, great fun and achievement done with no effort at all.

Stormchops is different from most buff food. When you eat Stormchops, you get no health back and you get the Electrified buff immediately (none of this eating for 10 seconds stuff--you don't even sit down).

Stormchops does overwrite any other Well-Fed buffs you might have, and Stormchops' buff can be overwritten by a Well-Fed buff.

I'm a shadow priest, so I bring foods like Blackened Basilisk to raids. I suspect that "Electrified" isn't better than +23 spell damage, but I'm curious, has anyone done any theorycrafting to figure out how much dps Stormchops adds?

Nevermind. With a little testing I found that Electrified works a little like Thorns in that it only procs when you're attacked, and even then only sometimes (I lost interest soon after I figured this out and didn't try to figure out actual proc rate or cooldown details). The proc is about 30 damage (disappointing!) and will arc to nearby enemies.

If you get close enough to a critter then there seems to be a very high chance that the buff will proc without your having been struck by anything, and the critter will be zapped for something more like 700 damage.

I knew there was a reason no one was buying this on the AH! Someday this and chocolate cake are going to get buffed and become the staple raid food, and then won't you all be sorry you didn't stock up when I was selling them cheap!

Stormchops can go off without being struck. I've seen a rogue with these on and he forgot they were on, he sapped his target and stormchops went off as he was walking away, and broke his sap.
