In the book Enders Game by Orson Scott Card, the Bugger Queens (a.k.a. Formics) are able to pass information, history and everything they know down to new queens telepathically, in the same manner that the flavor text of this item suggests. I don't know if there is a connection or not, but I thought people might like to know, also, its a great book to read, check it out.
