Not sure what the other commenter is talking about, there is no secret to this race?

Only use Surge Forward.
Use it on cooldown, don't try to conserve vigor.
Don't stray off the path at all, all the green orbs you need are easy to see.
Remember that you don't need to hit the centre of the rings, the side is fine.

Edit: He deleted his comment lol. He claimed that there was a secret to this race but refused to state what it was because he wanted people to beg for it. He was subsequently downvoted and deleted the comment. So my reference above is not talking about the other commenter who has found a way to get some extra vigor orbs, go ahead and try that strat if surge forward spam isn't working for you!

As stupid as it sounds, this works. I've tried the preservation-technique, as one would think would be the key, and got to a little over 71 seconds. Is it possible? Yes, but if so, it's very, very narrow. Then I tried just spamming Surge Forward, and my time was 67 something. So... yeah, that works.

here are my tips as the surge forward spam method didn't work for me.
1) at the 4th ring quickly point your camera up use skyward assent then aim back down to get back on course, if timed correctly you can still pick up the vigor orb directly after this.
2) between the 7th ring and 8th ring keep your camera facing down as much as possible then do the same thing as in point one.
these two points should give a significant boost to your speed and helped me get a time of 65s.
