Retail tier lists
WoW Tier Lists: Midnight Season 2
Most tier lists are one writer's opinion. Ours are counts. We read the Mythic+ and PvP leaderboards every day, count which specs show up at the top, and publish the numbers next to the tier, with the sample size and the dates. If a spec is S tier here, you can see exactly how many runs or players put it there. Mythic+ snapshot: October 5, 2026 at 20:29 UTC.
The lists
How these lists work
Every list follows the same idea. We pick a group that clearly plays at a high level: the top 10% of timed Mythic+ keys, or the players above a rating line on each PvP ladder. Then we count how much of each role that group is made of, spec by spec. A spec that takes twice its even share of the role is S tier. One that takes well under half is D tier.
The tier cut-offs are fixed numbers (S at 2 or more, A at 1.3 or more, B at 0.8 or more, C at 0.4 or more, D below 0.4), so tiers move only when players change what they bring. Each list shows its sample size, its window and when it was computed, and each spec row links to that spec's own build data where we have enough of it.
Why there is no raid tier list
A raid DPS ranking needs damage numbers from combat logs. We do not collect logs, so we cannot say which spec does the most damage on any boss in The Venomous Abyss. We could count which specs appear on characters that cleared the raid on Mythic, but that measures who raids, not who performs, and it would read like a damage ranking it is not. We would rather publish nothing than a list that looks like data and is not.
What these lists do not measure
- Representation is not strength. A popular spec can be popular because it is easy, fun or well known, and a strong spec can be rare because few people play it.
- Top players pick what top players already pick. Group finders and streamer builds push the same specs into high keys week after week.
