Pets Versus Pests

Quest becomes available when Garrison is upgraded to level 3.

This was originally for those in Beta, but since many are finding it useful now that the game is live I have updated it to include more information for those still using it.

I was having some issues getting these guys down (well just Gorefu) in Beta. I really don't battle pets. Mainly collect them. So this was a pain, and there wasn't a lot of information. Plus what information I did find was limited to what pets I did have. I know most these pets you can easily get either from holidays or the AH if not from the proper drops.

Your Garrison must be level 3 for your to receive the quest for this. It is also a good idea to have your battle pets to level 25, but having some 23-24 should still work since they "pests" have been nerfed, and are no longer boss levels.. If you aren't one to level or battle pets, here's a good guide to get you started on leveling some of them up. I know there are other guides, but most require you to already have maxed level pets or already be pretty deep into pet battling to use.

Gnawface: didn't even get to my 3rd pet. Him being so easy may have been a bug.

Carrotus Maximus: went down first try with this team.

Gorefu: tried all types of combinations of 3 fliers from the crows/ravens to 3 moths. Nothing worked until this team, and killed him first try.

REAL CHEAP VERSION

So I have done this on a few more characters, and with the nerf from Blizzard to these guys seem to be a bit lot easier. So I have found some easy to get pets for these fights, and are some you may want to consider having leveled and Rare of for future battles.

Gnawface: Took a level 25 Arctic Fox Kit. This one is a bit harder to get because he is in one zone and it needs to be snowing, but well worth getting. Had a Darkshore Cub and Fluxfire Feline on backup.

Dazzling Dance > Howl > Bite until Gnawface was dead.

Carrotus Maximus: I only needed one level 25 frog. I had the Jungle Dart. Had a Skimmer and Crab on backup.

Frog Kiss > Cleanse Rain > Water Jet until Carrotus Maximus was dead.

Gorefu: Finally got a moth to work! Only needed my level 24 (common) Ashwing Moth. Other two were Luyu and Skywisp moths.

Alpha Strike > Cocoon > Moth Balls until Gorefu is dead.

Hopefully this help those of you that don't want to farm or pay a ton for battle pets then level 9+ of them to complete this.

BETA ONLY INFO BELOW

If your pets didn't get copied over from live use the "Copy Character" > "Copy Account Data" on the character select screen.

Also in Beta, swing by the trainer (in Stormwind it's Audrey Burnhep - in Orgimmar it's Varzok) there is a Tauren, Pet Battleaur, next to both that sells Mythical Battle-Pet Stones for 1g (Unlimited charges boost level 25), Flawless Battle-Stonesx5 50s (boost to rare), Battle Pet Bandagesx25 50s, and Elekk Plushie 1g. To help you boost your pets to levels and quality to beat these bosses.

Hope this helps someone while in Beta who might have also been stumped.

So I like using pets ANYONE can find easily and level easily so this is what I used.

Carrotus Maximus: Any frog with Frog Kiss followed by cleansing rain when frog form is active *repeatedly* (third shot should be water jet just in case cleansing rain hasn't had time for cooldown, water jet has a boost against this guy too). Do this till he dies before swapping.

In second position any Strider or Dancing Water Skimmer with Pump and Cleansing Rain, same concept pump cleansing rain, pump cleansing rain, etc.

I didn't need my third pet but I used Emperor Crab with Whirlpool, Renewing Mist, and Surge. All strong against this guy and easy pets to get and worked great!

Gnawface: Start with any fox with Howl and Dazzling Dance, cast Dazzling Dance, you may have time for one cast of Bite but if your health is below 500 jump right to Howl (make sure howl is cast right before death!). Cast Howl and fox should die next hit.

In second position I used Kun-Lai-Runt, cast Rampage. That should be the end of the fight. Third pet doesn't matter.

Gorefu: Use any moth, or three of them. Defeated this guy with, not even kidding, 1 Oasis Moth and he still had half his health when the battle was over. Start with Moth Dust, followed by Cocoon Strike, then while those cool down hit with Alpha Strike. Repeat. Easy as pie.
