If you have trouble finding Mack Diver like I did; he is actually outside of the town fence. I was able to get the quest at 305 engineering but didn't try to get it prior.

Last time I checked, there were plenty lying around near the broken steam pump at the Dead Mire, far to the northeast. I heard that the withered giants spread the pieces all over that dried-out lake bed.
