TheWoWDBThis confused me at first as it dropped for my Alchemist/Enchanter and on hand-in received 12 gold, but no Optional Reagent and the Unformed Essence is the item that starts the quest and is handed in.
Eventually realised that getting this quest simply *unlocks the ability* to use optional reagents such as Sustaining Armor Polish in your crafts. So presumably my tailor, leatherworker and blacksmith will need to get this in order to craft items with the new reagents, meaning you can't simply send the optional reagent to a lowbie alt.

this dropped for me on 2 characters and a friend didnt get theirs on 2 characters.
I somehow got this during a Worldsoul Memory in Isle of Dorn; not sure what would've triggered that.
