Crafting estimate at current listings

At current lowest listed prices one craft shows an estimated profit of 137 gold30 silver, but the crafted item’s listing is far from its 30-day median (see below).

Reagent cost (lowest listed): 7 gold86 silver
Crafted item, lowest listed price (each): 30 gold56 silver
Items per craft: 5
Listed value of one craft: 152 gold80 silver

Outlier: the crafted item’s lowest listing is 53 times its 30-day median of 58 silver, so this estimate rests on a listing far above its usual level.
Items per craft: the game’s spell data creates 5 per craft, so the listed value of one craft is that many times the lowest listed price.

Where the reagents come from

Runescale Koi. No recipe, Blizzard quest reward or dungeon journal drop in our game data produces it. Also a required reagent in 4 other recipes (3 Cooking and 1 Alchemy); Koi-Scented Stormray takes the most, 5 per craft.

Lean Shank. No recipe, Blizzard quest reward or dungeon journal drop in our game data produces it. Also a required reagent in 3 other recipes (2 Cooking and 1 Alchemy); the most per craft: Salt and Pepper Shank (Cooking, 5 per craft), Suramar Surf and Turf (Cooking, 5 per craft) and Transmute: Meat to Pants (Alchemy, 5 per craft).

Reading these numbers

At current lowest listed prices the 4 reagents for one craft of Suramar Surf and Turf cost 7 gold86 silver. Most of that is Lean Shank - 5 at 1 gold20 silver each, 6 gold, 76.3% of the whole basket. Watch that one price and you have watched most of this recipe.

Break-even is 8 gold27 silver per craft, 1 gold65 silver per item at 5 items a craft - below that listed price the craft loses gold once Blizzard’s 5% cut is taken. The crafted item’s lowest listed price is 30 gold56 silver, which clears it.

At that listed price the gross margin before fees is 144 gold94 silver; the Auction House would keep 7 gold64 silver of a sale, leaving 137 gold30 silver. That is an estimated 1746.8% return on the gold you put into reagents, after the cut has taken 5.3% of the gross.

Listing depth right now: 117 units across 7 auctions region-wide. Depth separates a market price from a single asking figure, but listings are not sales, so read it alongside the estimate.

Costs use each reagent’s lowest listed price; the estimate is the crafted item’s lowest listed price, times the items one craft makes, minus those reagents and Blizzard’s 5% sale cut. Listings are asking prices, not sales. Recalculated every snapshot and left blank rather than guessed when a price is missing. How we estimate crafting profit →
