Don´t underestimate the importance of this item early in MoP. Trinkets are hard to come by, and when people are struggling to have the iLevel to queue for heroics or LFR, they will be looking for items to buy. Even though the item will be crap for non-engineers, it has a decent ilvl.
Just to let you know, the exact opposite of that is true. Replace your trinkets with ilevel 200 stuff and see what happens to your score.
