If you have both Horde & Alliance alts on your account, getting the Venomhide Ravasaur mount on your Horde character will grant the Winterspring Frostsaber mount on your Alliance alt. Or vice versa.
Looks like a feature added when Blizzard made mounts BoA.
I decided to go back to Winterspring and grind for rep again to get this mount before they get rid of it. Imagine my surprise (and relief) to find out that the requirements for it have been changed. As mentioned above, it is now in the form of a daily quest. In the old days, you had to grind your rep to Exalted with the Wintersaber Trainers faction. Now, at Friendly you get a cub pet (that can only be summoned in Winterspring) and have to do 20 daily quests for it. The resulting 20 whiskers (one a day) and the following will get you your mount now:
- 20 rugged leather
- 20 runecloth
- 80 gold
Within the frame of the quest, the dailies are to help you bond with your baby mount, and the items above are to make/pay for the saddle. A very interesting way to get a mount, one that I'd love to see with other mounts as well.
*Interestingly enough, Age of Conan has a tiger mount that includes a faction grind, raising the cub, training the cub, then making your saddle. Wonder if that's where Blizz got the idea?*
UPDATE: Btw, the guy you talk to is located on the cliff above Sian-Rotam's lair, at the far north center of Winterspring. Follow the road north past Starfall Village until you run out of road, and you'll see the big cliff sticking out in front of you.
