That's a bit off but is ball park (it's actually about 200 in your example based on wowwiki's formula for stamina hp contribution) I did a calculation using a naked level 80 Tauren Druid: Base Health = 8607hp - 80stam x 10 - 20stam x 1 = 7787 Endurance bonus = base health / 21 = 7787 / 21 = 370hp To put this into context: - You will lose 319hp if a cat farts in your direction (638 if it crits) - A drunk rogue can punch you in the face for 330hp - Going afk in the middle of a boss fight is a negative 50dkp - Stubbing your toe is 523hp and a 48hr speed debuff
This will be changed in WotLK.
- Endurance: now scales based on base health, to be tuned to approximately a 5% heath increase if the player were wearing green quality gear

Increases your Stamina by (scales with level).

Not anymore, sadly. Base health.
So if I'm not mistaken, as a druid with 12000hp and 800 stamina, this grants me a total of... 150 extra HP !
Yeah, it's complete bull@#$% that this racial was nerfed for being overpowered around the same time that the night elf racial was doubled to 2% and swapped to miss, and humans were given a free 2 minute trink in exchange for a small bit of usefullness on perception. Thank you blizzard, your thoughfulness and balancing skills are to be hailed.
Blizz really need to revisit this racial, or Tauren racials at least. Warstomp is incredibly helpful in 5 mans and I don't PVP but I'm sure it comes in handy there....
However, why did Taurens receive half the benefits as regards nature resistance that Night Elves received? The other NE racials (shadowmeld and dodge, who cares about corpse runs) are useful in countless situations - PVE, PVP and for most classes.
Moreover, the trend was to grant blanket scaling increases: Orc pets still receive 5% damage bonus, expertise gain is 5. Humans receive 3 to swords and maces (most common tanking weapon, most common 1 handed melee weapon, very common 2 handed weapons...) WotF's beauty lies in its ability to break sleep, charm and fear effects. The fear break is the one most people remember, however in a purely PVE situation you often have sleep effects (Mal'Ganis, Princess Huhuran iirc) and it is here it really shines.
So who got the short end of the stick? Gnomes for one. They have a mildy useful PVP racial that has weakened over time, small boost to intellect, engineering skill and an ability to remain uncrushed even after being bulldozed by a Tauren. I'll QQ more about Taurens as the herbalism bonus could be made better with better lifebloom etc but no.
Racials need to be reworked. I love my Tauren, but when you see the top guilds in the world having half their players switch race to squeeze out every advantage they can, you realise how powerful and relevant these racials are.
Edit: I take back my sympathy for gnomes. http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=20591 is 5% buff to intellect AFTER gear, therefore scaling. This means extra casts, extra crit AND it scales with BOK.
Its total health, not base health. So, its +5% health after all ur gear and buffs.
Shadowlands: at Level 60, this grants 1440 health (before modifiers).
I think you're missing the hit/dodge point - you get gear with hit and dodge ratings, and receive diminishing returns. So your 'scaling' argument actually gets turned on its ear - dodge and hit pure %s become more valuable. Now it's more complicated than that - obviously itemization gets better, too. Still, I'd think NE's 2% dodge >> Tauren's nerfed HP bonus if you put them against eachother.
On my Tauren DK has 162 base stamina
His base hp with the base stamina removed is 8527
Which means at level 80 im getting 406hp or 40 stamina from this racialDraenei Hit Rating - 1% per 32.79 If I go by "gem cost" 8 hit = 12 stam so this means 1% = 49 stamina and this effect is aoe
Nightelf Dodge - 2%,,, 1% per 39.3 again 8 = 12 this makes it 117 stamina and since dodge gets subject to diminishing returns and stamina doesnt, it just furthers widens the gap
If you want to try the math for your tauren in order to figure out how much extra health your recieving, do your math as follows. (Obviously take off all your gear. Keep in mind that talents which effect HP will most definately effect your answer)
105 total % / 5 (percent given from endurance) = 21 (total sets of 5) base HP / 21 = eHp eHP = health point gain from enduranceEnjoy :)
This equals an extra 11820 hp at level 100, which will be somewhere between an extra 3-6% health, depending on how well you're geared.
Edit: And your spec and buffs, of course :)
it gives tauren 400-450 more health in WoTLK
Well base health is part of maximum health, you can't deny a tauren has more max health, so from a certain point of view, it's very much true.
At level 100, 197 stamina adds 12 K health. Could be useful if you really want to get your HP to max.
It seems this racial will get a small change come WoD.
Tauren's Endurance becomes +X Stamina.
Additionally they will get a new racial: Brawn is a new passive which increases Crit Damage/Healing by 2%.
I found this information from Celestalon's Post on Twitter, there are also many other racial changes he has posted.
I dont know what are you thinking Blizz? 5% base health? You know what it means? It means about 200 more hp at lvl 80, are you kidding me? When Gnomes' +5% intelect remains unchanged? Im not saying "nerf those Gnomes!" but with about 30000 hp protection warriors gonna have in wotlk, you r giving us 200 more hp? I did compare alliance racial traits with hordes and alliance got all the good things. This was the only good thing left made me reroll a tauren warrior and now its gone forever.
Endurance does not stack with the Mining Profession's Toughness. The way this racial works is to increase your base health. To determine your base health, you must subtract your base stamina from your health pool before you can calculate how much you gain from this. What this means is that the bonus from Toughness, even though it's applied to your base stamina, doesn't stack with this because it isn't applied to your base health.
compare to other Racials:
- Human: Mace Specialization, Sword Specialization (340 Expertise)
- Dwarf: Mace Specialization, Crack Shot (340 Expertise)
- Gnome: Shortblade Specialization (340 Expertise)
- Night Elf: Quickness (1,770 Dodge)
- Draenei: Heroic Presence (340 Hit)
- Worgen: Viciousness (600 Critical Strike)
- Orc: Axe Specialization (340 Expertise)
- Troll: Dead Eye (340 Expertise)
- [race=6]: Endurance (340 Stamina)
- Goblin: Time is Money (425 Haste)
- Pandaren: Epicurean (300 Intellect, Agility, Strength, Spirit, Hit, Expertise, or 450 Stamina)
If you're considering rerolling and you consider races, that's when it comes into light.
this gives a few hundred thousands of hp to tanks at level 110. vastly more to guardian druids.
hard to find new info for someone trying to decide between highmountain and OG Tauren
Quite good racial, because it increases your <total> amount of hp, and even better in tbc when u'll have quite good amount of hp
^ this is what we call a time capsule. It isn't like this anymore :)
What's weird is that despite these alliance racial buffs, trolls regeneration buff is still a pathetic 10%. 30% would be nice
Expansive Mind only increases mana pool size by 5% now. Gnomes were nerfed again.
348 hp... My 2.1 speed staff on my priest deals an average of 389 damage per swing. It's nice to see the only racial worthy for Taurens in raid content be reduced to such insignificance. Seriously the only benefit to Tauren would be the ability to play druid and that uniqueness is going in Cata anyway. Edit: Just realized that i could also break the difference using a FISHING POLE.
I'd rather have a flat increase of 1% health than the way it currently is. At least it wouldn't be ambiguous and would scale a bit with content.
It is: 197 sta in WoD so its good for Guardian/Feral and crit is good for Healers so tauren is not bad choise.
But for balance druid stil 15% haste is better racial @ trolls. ;)
He's saying it's unfair that another race's +stat% bonus isn't changed when the Tauren +hp% one was. Int is a worthwhile stat due to Replenishment and +crit / talents. Every little bit helps. Blizzard did nerf the Human +10% Spirit racial, but as of yet, Orc 5% pet dmg, Troll 5% beast dmg, Gnome +5% Int, remain unchanged. My personal opinion is that it's not a big deal. I was very surprised the Night Elf racial got buffed to +2% chance to be missed, however.
Right now this just outright sucks. If Blizzard had to nerf all racial passive stat bonuses they could've let this scale with gear like the others do, too.
A half truth is a complete lie.
You're right, i have never seen my tank die with overkill in the single digits, because the number of those times it has actually happened is ridiculously small; about 99.9% of wipes are caused by people screwing up, not due to just not doing enough damage or having enough health. And it's not just the new race's racials that are better either, even the troll regeneration works out to be better than this.
For warriors as of 5.0.5, this is 7333 health at level 90. Stamina provides 14 health per point after the first 20, so this is equivalent to about 524 stamina. Stamina raid buff provides 10% additional stamina, so pre-buff this would be equivalent to about 476 stamina. Protection warriors receive 15% bonus stamina, reducing this to about 414 stamina. Stamina is valued at 1.5 stamina per stat point, so about 276 total stat points for protection warriors, 317 for arms and fury. Compare this against the expertise and hit racials, worth 340 stat points at level 90, the worgen crit racial, worth 600 stat points at level 90, and the night elf quickness racial, increasing chance to be missed by 2%, which is not subject to diminishing returns, but would be worth *at least* 1770 stat points of dodge or parry rating. I suppose this is the price to pay for being a minotaur.
Thanks! Just what I wanted to know.
I lol'd at your cursing XD And also, agree with unckle: Taurens have extra health. It is usefull. It is not the question if it is more usefull than another racial.
Every Horde I've ever seen runs away from me at 5% health yelling "HA HA LOL" and you call Alliance, kids... If so, you just got beat by a 10 year old lol...
Hey, I was wondering, since this increases 'base' health, and the Stamina bonus from Mining goes into your base stamina, does this racial give more HP based off of Toughness?
You must be that one Raider that never saw their tank die with a single hit point of overkill. You can argue all day long about whether it's not powerful enough compared to Goblin's 1% haste but that's probably because the "new" racials are just too powerful compared to every single classic race.
Tanks in ilvl 359 gear (first epic tier) will be at around 200k. By the end of the Cata they will probably be near the 275-300k number. So this racial will prove to just be around 0.5-1% EH increase.
I had about the same result when tested at level 100. :)
To calculate the gain:
1. Get naked
2. (Cur HP)-((Stam-20)*10+20) will give you 105% your base HP; First 20 pts of Stamina give 1HP every point there after rewards 10.
3. Take that and divide by 1.05 to see the amount of HP you have before Endurance. The reason just getting naked and dividing by 1.05 won't work is because its base HP and your base HP is a static number based on your race/class and completely naked you're still gaining HP from your base Stamina.
IE: Bob the Druid has 8k HP naked and 120 Stamina.
8000-((120-20)*10+20)=6980
6980/1.05=6647.61~
Hence Bob has 6648 base HP before any modifiers.
Well since classes got diffrent hp for some weird reason my holy paladin got 49hp more than my resto orc shaman, neither should get anything in stam from talents yet there it was. So luckily i have 2 resto shamans and one beeing tauren. The tauren had 8498 hp naked and specced resto, the orc had 8150 completely simular spec and neither have a proffesion that give extra stamina.
So the result of tauren racial and beeing resto shaman was 348 extra hp.
you forgot to calculate the spirit=hit bonus that Human Shadow priests benefit from... A human shadow priest needs ~150 less spirit to hit cap. and another 340 less when wielding a mace.
Ty for this! I believe endurance gives 340 stamina, since my basic hp at lvl 90 with a belf is 120k. A tauren should have 126 (since 5% of 120 = 6). When i equip something that gives 340 stamina, that's what i got (6k). So i believe Endurance gives 340 stamina.
15% haste is better for resto druids aswell
Increases Stamina by 98 in Midnight at level 90
Is this +5% applied before or after gear?
Umm.. No, (Base health + Stam from gear/buffs) × 1,05.
I mathed about 280 extra health on my level 70 prot warrior. 5946hp and 143 stamina nekkid. 143-143/106*100 =~ 8 extra stamina from vitality. 5946-80 = 5866, which should be any level 70 tauren's base hp. 5866-5866/105*100 = 279.3~ extra health from endurance.
Accualy your gaining 426 hp. 8527*.05= 426, not 406.
the 2% dodge is stacked ontop after diminishing returns is calculated, and you can't really use stamina as a form of currency to gauge the power of other stats
