As indicated by the colored numbers in the upper right corner, this goes yellow at 115 and green at 122. Confirmed this myself less than a minute ago, as I skilled up from smelting a stack of silver.
About the only way to get to Iron without taking the time to actually go around mining (E.G. Powerleveling mining), unfortunately Silver Ore is pretty pricey (150g~ a stack) because of this.
