Movement impairing effects over-ride this. Sprinting while under the effect of a Movement impairing effect will only boost your speed with the Movement reduction already in effect.
For Example.
Wing Clip - Descreases Movement Speed by 50%
Sprint - Increases Speed by 50%With these two enabled, you will NOT be running at 100% speed.
Say the value of Running Speed was (S)
Movement Reduction is (R)
Movement Increasing is (M)
S = 1000
R = 50%
M = 50%S = S(1000) - R(50%) = 500
S = S(500 now) + M(50%) = 750 becuase 50% of 500 is 250, added to 500 equals 750Final Movement result with 50% speed reduction and 50% Speed increase would result in:
75% movement speed.
This applies to all movement effects in WoW. Everything is multiplicative, including enchants, talents, buffs, and auras unless said otherwise (for example, "this does not stack with other movement effects", stacks as in, not impairing. The impairing effects still stands on the multiplicative rule with the listed movement increases above).
Added:
In stealth, as said above, this only increases your movement speed BY 50%, this comes not only after the movement reduction of stealth itself, but after enchants or talents, in rogue's case, Fleet Footed (movement increase by 8 or 15%), with an Enchant on, 8% increase, with Sprint, you would not be running at 58% speed.
Fleet Footed combined with Sprint Rank 2 will not make you run at 75% speed. It will add to the already existing speed that you have set with the increase already made. No matter how fast you are running, sprint will only increase it by 50%, and NOT ADD to the movement speed from any other increasing effects. Therefore, you will NEVER be running at 100% increased speed unless you pick up those boots in the warsong tunnel.
That would probably because of the Minor Glyph for Sprint, which allows you to walk on water when affected by the sprint buff.
improved sprint is a life saver for preventing yourself from being kited by hunters, mages, etc...
With a Glyph of Sprint, this adds 100% speed increase.
But I wonder why it says:Apply Aura: Water Walk
Anyone knows?
Sprint rank 1 alone does NOT trigger the "sprinting" animation switch shown in the screenshots.
Cooldown decreased to 3 minutes in WotLK(2min with talents)
Dash cd: 3 minutes Sprint cd: 1 minute Enough said
Since no one else here has said it, or there comment has been purged/deleted/edited...
Run Forest, run!
In my opinion, the predominant reason to create a rogue bank alt
-You're going to level the alt to ten anyways (at level 10 your character is saved more permanently to Blizzard's files, protecting all of your valuable commodities)
-At level ten with a rogue bank alt you can sprint between the auction house, mailbox, and bank! Just the trick for all us impatient folk ;)
Stuff to improve Sprint:
Glyph of Sprint - Increases movement speed increase from 70 to 100%
Endurance - Reduces cooldown from 3 to 2 minutes
Improved Sprint - Removes movement impairing effects when activated
Preparation - Allows refreshing of cooldown every 8 minutes
Sprint Duration Increase - Increases duration from 15 to 18 seconds (granted by Marshal's Leather Footguards etc.)
Glyph of Blurred Speed - Allows walking on water while active[Edit] Not sure how things like Enchant Boots - Tuskarr's Vitality affect Sprint.
[Edit 2] Or Aspect of the Pack. Testing needed:P
what you need: [item=16446] or [item=16558] (if you are horde) enchanted with Enchant Boots - Greater Fortitude
2 macros.
macro1 is a script/one-time-macro that is run just once when you sign on (must be done every time you sign on)
macro2 is your new sprint, it replaces your old sprint.
macro1 (change 32366 to whatever your normal boot's item id is, it is the 5 digit number after "item=")
/run local i,f="32366",ReQ or CreateFrame("Frame","ReQ") f:Hide() f:SetScript("OnEvent",f.Show) f:RegisterEvent("PLAYER_EQUIPMENT_CHANGED") f:SetScript("OnUpdate",function(s,e) f:Hide() if not IsEquippedItem(i) then EquipItemByName(i) end end)macro2 (change Marshal's Leather Footguards to General's Leather Treads if you are horde).
/equip Marshal's Leather Footguards
/cast Sprintthe result:
if you are out of combat, you get an 11 second sprint, and your normal boots is put right back on automatically, therefore, you have nothing to lose.
if you are in combat or in arena, sprint is cast as usual.
This is the rank of sprint where your character stops looking like an idiot. At rank 1, you're character is kinda like... walking faster, not running. Here, he/she is sprinting.
Which is now no longer an issue, with increased mailboxes :) For example, there is one now, right outside the AH entrance in SW.
Perhaps not the most useful macro ever, however it's nice to have three extra seconds.
You'll want to save up some honor for any gear that works.
This could be something low level that will just work, or higher gear that could even be practical if you get caught in combat while sprinting.
This macro only changes your boots out of combat.#showtooltip Sprint
/cast [combat, nostance] Evasion
/equipslot 8 <Sprint boots>
/cast Sprint
/equipslot 8 <Gear>
question: does this stack with minor vanish glyph?
alliance need to get level 60 boots.
horde need to get the equivalent.enchant with 22 stamina.
what you need:
itemrack.(get it from wowinterface (not direct download link, click the address and download it))
the macro that you need:
type /macro
make a new one, copy and paste the bold texts below
#show sprint
/equip Marshal's Leather Footguards
/cast Sprintthis will be your new sprint, replace your old sprint icon with it. what it does is, it will try to equip the level 60 boots and then sprint, or just sprint if you are in combat.
of course, we need to equip our real boots right back on because your sprint duration has been increased to 18 seconds already.
instead of equipping the real boots back on manually every single time, we make use of the wonder feature of itemrack:
create a new set with only feet slot activated, and put your real boots there. give the set a name, name it "Test" (capitalize first letter)
click "events"
make a new one or use the existing one,
type of event is Script
in the Event Trigger field, copy and paste the bold text below
UNIT_SPELLCAST_SUCCEEDED
in the Event Script field, click editor, copy and paste the bold text below to the editor.
local spell = "Sprint"
local set = "Test"
if arg1=="player" and arg2==spell then
EquipSet(set)
endclick test in the editor, if no error msg pops up, you are good to go.
click save and try it out!
i use glyph of sprint and 3 second of 100% sprint means A LOT when running the flag in WSG.
took me a whole afternoon to figure this out, as far as i know this way of utilizing sprint is original, so you are welcome, enjoy!
Thank-you for that very Insightful view, coyote72. Could you, or anybody else, please redo the above equation with this factored in? Thank-you again so much. '^_^
Spells, enchants, and talents that increase movement speed are not additive, the smaller one simply gets overwritten. So if you have Tuskarr's Vitality and you pop Sprint you're still going to be moving at +70% movement speed. Same goes for Aspect of the Pack.
This change is fine enough as it is. It's still an increase in uptime on sprint overall and we can use it when we need it more often.
Perhaps obviously, Sprint doesn't do anything to swim speed. (yes, well, the remora was eating me, I had to try it.)
Since Legion arrived and removed most glyphs we have lost the ability to run on water with sprint...
Does Sprint clean/clear DoTs?
And you can run on water
Well those are fine and dandy, but shamans can already do most of those. Water to wine is rumored to be a skill they're adding in cataclysm to transmute mage water, with no additional effects besides blurring up your screen and making you slur.
That's a shaman, they walk on water, cure diseases, they got nature's guardian (similar to cheat death) and they turn water not into wine but into HEALZ!111
If your connection is really bad, you can do this by opening a rather large profession window. I did this with my rocket boots and zipped around Crystalsong forest for a while. Fun times.
His post has since been edited, previously there were another pair of boots linked. I deleted my post for redundancy.
it appears sprint is going to be 1min cd bul last 8sec should make it an even 10sec
Dont see why this was downvoted, seemed pretty nifty...is it outdated or something? Maybe help update the macro instead of downvote?
By putting 10 points in the combat tree and then 2 in Improved sprint you will have a 100% chance to remove all movement impairing effects. So if you are flag running at get trapped you can pop this (as long as it isn't on cooldown) and break away.
And with glyph of sprint you get a 1 min cooldown(counting in talents).
This is not the case atm.. i have both talents and glyph of sprint. but i only came down to 1.75 as off patch: 3.0.2
They seem to cause disease rather than cure it.
does any1 know if sprint allows u to walk over water in 3.2.2 as it did in previous versions? (without the glyph obviously)
I'm sure this also counts for the passive movement speed increase on your boots. The macro you made is worthless with this in mind. Last edited by Arannia 30 days ago (Patch 3.3.3)If you'll reread the earlier post, you'll see there is no passive speed boost on the boots. The macro is to equip boots that extend the duration of the sprint by 3 seconds. Saying that equipping the boots before a sprint is "worthless" is absurd. The boots are clearly designed to improve sprint.
This Enchant Cloak - Gift of Versatility with Tuskarr's Vitality is the only way to fly. On my worgen rogue, I have Darkflight, Sprint, Glyph of Sprint, Nightstalker (despite Subterfuge having more utility when you're not running to and fro), and finally I gather enough Swiftthistle and Briarthorn to have virtually unlimited Speed Pot available for a grand total 188% increase, or rather 288% speed whenever some guy/gal on a mount thinks s/he's all that (Darkflight does not stack with sprint, just use it when sprint runs out of gas). This does not begin to take into account Fleet Footed and Preparation. I ALWAYS get the first flag, or even when I'm feeling generous get halfway to the next flag first before having to stop and pop Running Wild (again no mount necessary) to finish my way to the second flag well before any smelly horde gets there. Rogue ftw. /grin /cackle
but really 8sec better if 10sec. 2sec can make a difference
In cata its is possible to become incredibly mobile as a rogue. http://www.wowhead.com/spell=14063# brings your stealth speed down to 85% normal speed add to this Fleet Footed and you now have a stealth speed of 100% normal run speed. now comes the fun part, by stacking [spell=13875], [item=42974] and [item=43379] you can now have [spell=11305] and lets put [item=43380] in there too. with all this together you can remove all movement impairing effects vanish and run across the water at a top speed of 230% normal speed IN STEALTH ON WATER and when at this speed its improved stealth too, after a few seconds it drops down to 215% normal speed STILL IN STEALTH AND ON WATER. a rogue with all this can escape a bad situation with ease in both PvP and PvE (though the water part is not as useful in PvE) so if you are planing on doing PvP in cata or are leveling a new rogue in cata I highly recommend stacking this up as this with both save you in solo and PvP and also save repairs in instances because you can now flee at faster then epic ground mount speed anywhere in the world for a short time wile in stealth.
Edit : bad math
hehe, just noticed this is in the mage class skills for me. Odd.
At lower levels, before you get your first mount, you can sprint for longer by disconnecting yourself from the internet as the buff is about to time out. Since lag is Client-side, the buff stays on you as you move across the continent, and if you reconnect soon enough, you won't get disconnected from the server and you'll have gained quite some ground. You are also likely to run through quite a few mobs while you are 'lagged out' but you can usually cover a lot of ground without dying.
In 4.x Sprint is reduced to an 8 second buff.
The Druids still have 15... we can't keep up with a cat any more... Not sure how that is "balanced"
Rank 1.50 speed.Rank 2.60 speed.Rank 3 70 speed
