No Place Like Home

I'm rather disappointed by this update (as Elfyr stated, No Place Like Home was given to replace [spell=20599]), but I suppose it's understandable.

However, I certainly feel that having two charges on the same Hearthstone location is only even remotely useful in extremely niche circumstances, especially when factoring in the 5-minute CD reduction from this Racial, plus the 15-minute CD from [spell=83944], which most people will have. With both No Place Like Home + [spell=83944], one's Hearthstone will be on a 10-minute CD, and have two charges. That's comically unnecessary.

I very much believe that instead of two charges, letting us choose two different Hearth locations would have been much more useful and much more comparable to the practicality of [spell=20599] -- even without the 5-minute CD reduction! (Though the 5-minute CD reduction would certainly still be quite welcome!) Yes, this would make it similar to one of the Vulpera Racials, Make Camp / Return to Camp, but that's not exactly a bad thing -- and I hope many players would agree that it's infinitely more useful than a 2-charge Hearthstone with a 10-minute CD. As No Place Like Home is currently, it's already quite similar to the Shaman spell Astral Recall, which shares your Hearthstone's Hearth location but is on a separate CD from your Hearthstone, effectively giving Shamans two charges -- so my proposed change being "similar to the Vulperas' Make Camp / Return to Camp" shouldn't matter anyway.

Here's hoping Blizzard considers these points and updates No Place Like Home.

This spell is in the spellbook but does not seem to work (nor does the guild perk Hasty Hearth) with the current patch. Hopefully will be hotfixed soon.

As of 11.0 this racial replaced [spell=20599].

What Blizzard said at the time was:

The human racial Diplomacy is currently designed to grant a bonus 10% to reputation for players who choose that race. Unfortunately, with Warband reputations, this racial causes problems due its character-specific nature.

We don’t want players to feel compelled to play a specific character or race to earn Warband-level rewards more efficiently, so we will convert this race-specific bonus into something new. We’ll share more information on it at a later date.

New Human Racial: No Place Like Home – Your Hearthstone cooldown is reduced by 5 minutes and gains an additional charge. Replaces Diplomacy..

- Players had mixed but mostly neutral reactions to the change, with the consensus being (at the time) that the change was understandable but the replacement seemed not super useful. [Example Post] Others saw this change as needed given Blizzards direction of tieing in reputations with early character progression, and the frequency in which some (albeit sweaty) players would swap races for such rep grinds. This ties back into the Warband system as Blizzard recognizes that early on players may want to play and alt just to designate a character to a rep grind for all other characters.

- Ultimately, [spell=20599] as a racial lasted from the start of the game through to 7/22/2024 when the prepatch (11.0) for TWW was launched.
