If you have progress made on Hotter Streak and then lose a game on a team lower than 1800, you will reset the achievement counter to 0. This may be obvious, but we were unable to find any conclusive evidence online. Here it is.

There is currently an exploit for those of you who are struggling to get this achievement for arena master. If you log out before the match ends the loss will not be counted against your win streak. This trick currently works as of this writing. Cheers.
