To do this achievement you need to engage the boss and wait for enough Vapors to spawn. They will eventually spawn the animus. Kill it, then kill him.

Note that you can't kill ANY of the vapors, otherwise Animus will not spawn. It needs exactly 8 vapors to coalesce, and it will only spawn 8.
Engaged the boss, went and brushed my teeth, came back and the Animus was already attacking me. Killed it, killed him. Easy enough.
