While I understand the premise...it should be steady flight first and then have the achievement unlock Skyriding instead.

At least buff steady flight if youre gonna make us grind for it... IMO fire Ion ... god...

Steady flight isn't optional for some players. It's good that there is more than one option so that players can fly the way they prefer to fly. However Blizzard have already acknowledged many times that skyriding is inaccessible to some players, so locking steady flight behind an achievement when skyriding is there from the start is gatekeeping an accessibility feature. It would make more sense to have both either there from the start or unlocked at the same time so that people can continue to play the way that they wish to.
