If you have the bug where your gold is showing a negative number, it's because blizzard saves how much gold you've earned as a signed integer.
Basically, you can have up to the old gold cap, 2^31 copper, or 214k gold. Once you reach 214k gold, it will change to show -214k gold, and continue to count backwards until it reaches 0 gold again. After that, it will count up normally.So, if you had, say -200000000 copper, that's -200k gold, so you should have earned a total of about (214k + (214-200)) = 228k gold. And so on, and so forth.
