  • Weapon specialization racials stay removed

Blizzard posted a final pass on racial abilities and passive traits for World of Warcraft: Forever on October 26, 2026, in its WoW Forever Beta Development Notes thread (Kaivax, post 7). These are the last racial changes Blizzard has announced before launch.

Blizzard says some of the new racial traits felt too generic and some were stronger than others. Its answer is to put racial identity first: a few races will be slightly better at certain combat roles, and some role- or class-focused racials that had been swapped for generic ones are coming back.

Weapon specialization racials such as the human Sword Specialization and orc Axe Specialization stay out. Blizzard says raid and dungeon loot should not be judged through "required" weapon types. Everything below summarizes the post, and beta values can still change before launch.

Human

  • Ruthless now increases critical strike chance by 1% (was 2%).
  • Human Spirit now increases Spirit by 10% (was 5%).

Dwarf

  • Earth Fury (2% increased critical strike damage and healing) is removed.
  • New: Artisan's Precision increases hit chance with spells and attacks by 1%.

Orc

  • Savage (1% increased critical strike chance) is removed.
  • Command is back, increasing Warlock and Hunter pet damage by 5%.

Tauren

  • Plainsrunning now grants 2% movement speed per stack (was 1%), up to 60% total (was 30%).
  • Plainsrunning no longer increases mounted movement speed.
  • Endurance now only grants 5% increased Health, with no hit chance or critical damage modifiers.

Skyborne

  • Wind-Blessed Haste is reduced to 2% (was 3%).
  • Read Leyline now increases Mana and Health regeneration by 50% (was 100%) for 15 seconds. It cannot be used while Innervate is active; Innervate replaces it as the stronger effect.
  • Using Read Leyline at a Ley Line also grants Attuned for 1 hour, which raises Read Leyline back to a 100% regeneration increase. Attuned persists through death.
  • Skysight now grants 15% movement speed (was 10%) for 15 seconds.
  • Using Skysight at an elemental convergence also grants Charged for 1 hour, which raises Skysight to 30% movement speed. Charged persists through death.

What it means for your character

Our read on the changes, not Blizzard's:

  • Hunters and Warlocks get a reason to roll orc again: Command's 5% pet damage is back, and Savage's flat 1% crit is gone.
  • Humans trade crit for Spirit, which tilts them toward healing and casting rather than raw damage.
  • Dwarves swap a crit damage bonus for 1% hit, which matters most while gear is still short of the hit cap.
  • Tauren Plainsrunning doubles to a 60% cap on foot, a big leveling and world PvP perk, but it no longer stacks with mounts.
