Multiple reloads and disabling UI elements did not work for me. I didn't get the extra ability icon in the middle of the screen like you would expect.
Instead, over on the quest tracker there is now a tiny little ability icon "Call of the Mother Tree" that for some gawdawful reason has an icon image that is identical to your new Artifact ability icon Essence of G'Hanir. Don't be like me and confuse this new Artifact ability you are just bestowed with, with this extra ability Call of the Mother Tree that is only used in this instance and which isn't listed in Wowhead either. Click the tiny little quest icon and your problems are over.
If clicking your artefact icon fails, type /reload in the chat to reload your interface and try again.
