It's "Unanswered Call" that targets you with the red beam. While the beam is up you can only kite him around and let Vareesa scratch away at him while you kite - that must be what super-powers his melee hit. Following that approach it was pretty simple for me after I'd left four tombstones on the floor :D - I had been trying to move behind him as if it was a directional thing, but I was still in melee range.
Run out when he does the ability "Tear it Down" and when he targets you with that red beam, cant remember ability, kite him so you don't get 1 shot
