The new 5.3 Barrens battlefield is a good way to get gear on a new 90. Do the weekly that gives you the [item=97849], get the 100 supplies (Easily obtainable from killing the Commanders and Guiding the caravans) and there you are, a 489 ilvl item. It's also worth mentioning the quest that Chen Stormstout gives out also rewards you with some 502 (I think) boots .
I think 5.3 was made for people who don't really spend much time on WOW. (Hint hint the 85 to 90 nerf)
