It looks like the mats will be: 5 Hardened Elementium Bars 100 Elementium Ores = 50 Elementium Bars 20 Volatile Earth 6 Truegold 108 Pyrite Ores =18 Pyrium Bars OR (144 Elementium Ores = 72 Elementium Bars + 72 Volatile Earth) 180 Volatile Earth/Air/Water 3 Chaos Orbs Running heroic dungeons - if you are super unlucky it could be +15 heroic dungeon runs to score 3 Orbs. Apparently the are now BOP, so you have to farm them yourself. Options: So, if you go the all Elementium route, you will need 244 ores = 122 bars and 272 Volatile Earths. (I am not sure if this transmute has a 20 hr cooldown, but if it does then expect to spend some gold or become BFFs with an alchemist for 18 days) Pyrite/Pyrium = 200 Volatile Earths and 108 Pyrite Ores = 18 Pyrium Bars.

OK I would love to know who it is that keeps down rating random comments on this page. Why would you down rate: 1-"That is some nice stats and model, can't wait to get one" or 2-"gotta love anything thats a scythe :) great model blizz" These comments compliment a great new skin from blizzard. and the next one: 3-"I would say Seliza's Spear from Heroic Lost City of Tol'vir edges this out by a hair and is much easier/cheaper to obtain for Feral tanks. On the other hand, this is a huge scythe..." This is actually handy as the seliza's spear is indeed MUCH easier to obtain, and while I don't agree that its better is still comparable to the Elementium pole axe. Seriously. Would people please up rate the positive, sensible comments on this page?

There are a number of other alternatives that are much cheaper to get then this particular weapon. It's not so much that this is HARD to get, anyone can pay a blacksmith, its the fact at how expensive these materials are to purchase.

Granted, the model for this is very desirable and unique, it just may not be the best choice if you are looking to save some gold.

This is one of the most awesome looking new weapons I've seen, and honestly it doesn't cost that much out of pocket with a little work. I get volatiles from skinning (bloated stomachs) on my hunter, ore and volatiles from mining on my rogue and my DK is a transmutation master for truegold. The only thing I'll be paying for are the Chaos orbs and a tip--about 2k. All three are some of the best professions to have money wise and are super easy, period. I did skinning 1-525 overnight, max mining with in 3 days, my herbing supports the alchemy. Skinning also allows me 525 leatherworking--awesome due to high demand, and the crafter only Draconic embossments to bracers are a great bonus. I personally like unique things rather than cookie cutter and I've only seen one 1 person on my server with this. I really don't think a little work is too much for it.

Its worth noting, despite the hate that Im sure it will generate, that this is rated rather highly on EJ listing of death knight tank weapons. The dodge conversion from agility is good, and would be a viable alternative to those dk tanks fresh at 85 who have more money than time.

290685-1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

Lmao. As a iLvl 354 Blood DK I can tell you that this is a fail on EJ's part. I'd rather have a 333 lvl 3.80 speed with strength. [item=56342] is best in slot non-epic i believe. And the hate generated wasn't towards you, EJ is to blame.

738198-1via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

The reasoning makes sense. EJ wants you to stack, feed, breathe, live, and piss mastery. Utilizing this belief, the actual best-in-slot non-epic would have to be [item=56382] due to the fact that it has more mastery, the agility increases our dodge, and the crit can be reforged to parry. A Blood DK does not need strength.

193568+2via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

A blood dk doesn't need strength? That's a new one. Agi is the less desired stat for Blood DK's on Cataclysm, rendering this weapon useless. You really should check your sources before making a statement like that. Btw, Strength = Attack Power = Threat generation

Since people's mats seem to be a bit off. It's funny that you start by saying other people's numbers are off. And then you end by saying your numbers might be off. 10/10 Edit: In fact, they are off. 18x pyrium through transmuting will need 6x elementium bars and 6x volatile earth, not 4 of each. This brings the total of option B to 112 elementium ore and 26 volatile earth, plus all the other volatiles and 5 transmute cooldowns.

yes, that's the only thing that prevents me from making one for myself. I've everything else, except the truegold. Which I probably won't get for a while as I know no alchemist willing to make it for less than 2k gold per bar even if you bring the mats (it's got that bad with the firelands release, the craftables for which require even more truegold, before firelands the same alchemists used to charge an already high 500 gold per bar). I'm however training up a new toon to be an alchemist, and stocking up on volatiles at the same time, so in a few weeks I'll probably have the materials to mak
