I can imagine how sick this will be for druid.

Back in my days of WoW, they made us do a [i]hard[/i] questline to get our Swift flight form! Now every dagnabbit hooligan Druid on the block uses their instant flight form instead of an epic flyer!

Those were the days brother! we worked hard to get the chance to fly as fast as anyone else. Now these stupid young upstarts just go to the trainer and just say "hai i canz have burd furm noa?" and bam. They have it. *Shakes his cane at the young folk.*

And we had to fly up in normal flight form through the snow to get it as well! Both ways!

Back in my day all we had was this thing called a "Parchute Cloak". If we wanted to fly we would run (we didn't have rams yet, which you use to have to be level 40 to get) our dwarves all the way out to Thunderbluff and take the elevators to the top and jump off. Now that was flying.

Ok, this, next to the [url=http://cata.wowhead.com/item=60858]Goblin BBQ[/url] is by far, the coolest item in-game, I think I might actually give up engineering and mining for Alchemy and herbalism for this, screw you roflcopters, I'm gonna be a rofldragon!

The vial is worth 25g to vendors. That is one sick joke.

Honestly for how much this thing costs, and what it does (transforming [i]you[/i] *cough* druids *cough*). I think there should be no/reduced cast time, OR at least a cool animation of turning into the dragon - like the Worgens or something.

Dunno if this recipe went through some patch updates since OP in 2010, but...It's missing some stuff unless the 320x Volatile Life are converted to the Volatile Water and Volatile Fire you use with the Volatile Air and *36 Pyrium Bars to make the Truegold. Whiptail count is a bit high, too.

I can't wait for this item, honestly. I got a little bit excited when I first heard about and then I saw the dragon model and was like hell yeah!

At the very least from vendor materials, this will cost 24,000g - 8 x (4 x (1/4) vendor value of Sands of Time - 750g)

And will probably start selling for 100k.

Just bought my own for 25k, usually on my server it's more like 30-39k

Got the recipe today and made two of them (sold one) The person "mounting" this doesn't actually get on top of the drake like all the other drakes its carried in its claws. Still funny as heck to see.

I would +vote the "Giggity" comment, but it's at +69 right now

actualy the thing where the passenger sits in claws is a bug which blizz will prob fix by the next patch

This is my most up to date list of requirements for the [item=65891], This alchemy vial teaches your character to be able to morph into a [spell=93326] - a fast mount capable of carrying one passenger.

First thing is you need [b]525 Alchemy[/b] (although its not required to loot the recipe from the Canopic jar).

The [item=67538] is obtained through Archeology. It is contained in the Tol'Vir Common artifact [item=64657]. You will need [b]450 Archeology[/b] to find Tol'Vir artifacts and they are found in Uldum only.

The Sand and Pyrium Laced Vial are purchased from a Vendor named [npc=49406] in Uldum. She is located at the top left corner of the "T" shaped lake in the North West of Uldum.

afaik, goblins were not receiving the discount in beta, but are on live. Given that this gives a huge monetary advantage to the Horde, and it seems that these vendor bought mats aren't supposed to receive any faction discounts (just like the Mechano-hog vendor bought parts), I foresee Blizzard fixing the goblin discounts on this at some point. Take advantage of the big discounts while you can :D

In fact you can get it even cheaper with the guild perk called "Bartering", it gives you an additional 10% off meaning the price would be 27000 gold for a non-goblin and 20300 for a goblin! That's a lot to save!

Blizzard has removed the ability to get the Goblin and Guild discount together. You now only get the highest available discount.

Just wanted to clarify that the 2700G for the Sand and 4500G for the Vial does in fact reflect a discount but it is not a reputation discount. You are getting the level 24 guild discount of 10%. For someone not in a level 24 guild, the sand is 3000G and the Vial is 5000G.

What about the Goblin racial, Best Deals Anywhere? Or does that only work on vendors associated with a reputation?

I flew a Goblin out there to check and they do not get a discount on the sands, so I assume it only works with vendors associated with a rep. Edit: My original comment was from beta. In beta Goblins were not getting any discount on the Sands and Vial from Yasmin, but it appears they are in live!

No reputation discount, but you are including [url=http://www.wowhead.com/spell=83964]Bartering[/url] in your cost summary.

So the deal as we know it atm is, that yes, you can unlearn alchemy after getting the mount to learn some other prof, but the recipe appears to be learned through discovery and is very, very rare. You might have to be an alchemist for like a year before you get lucky.

Materials wise, i'd expect the sands to be lootable by alchemists from a boss in an instance. Blizz have a lot of their "systems" for loot, badges, rep etc etc all nicely set and following on from wrath. This IS likely to be the mount-sink in cata like the hog in wrath.

That is an option I haven't thought of yet, certain bosses could drop/be herb-skinned for the Sands, so raiders have a chance to save costs, while it's still available for nonraiders, but at a steep price. However, that they are "common" (white) and not BoP kinda contradicts that.

It's possible when we do the Caverns of Time raid in patch 4.whenever that they could include an [url=http://www.wowhead.com/item=46110]Alchemist's Cache[/url] 2.0 type item that can contain some sands of time. It would kinda fit that you get some sands of time inside the caverns of time. But just like you couldn't get the hog's pieces off of a boss until Flame Leviathan in Ulduar in 3.1, I wouldn't expect sands to drop anywhere but the vendor until at least 4.1.

And may I add, in regards to this being compared to the Chopper, that this will be be more intensely awesome. Why? Because it flys. And flying will be available almost everywhere come Cataclysm. Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Outlands and Northrend. (And new areas) Park yourself in a main city, maybe with a [url=http://www.wowhead.com/item=39738]Thunderbrew's Hard Ale[/url] or other size increasing consumable.....people may mistake you for a raid boss.

This could actually have a pretty neat quest line to go along with it where an alchemy trainer asks you to try out his new potion he made and when you do you turn into the drake but are stuck as it and have to go to Wyrmrest to see the Dragons there and they each give you a quest to get an item that helps make the antidote after the end of the quest chain you get the fixed recipe that allows you to turn into the drake and back at will.

When a player trains an Engineering or Tailoring mount then drops the profession, the mount remains trained and viewable in the spellbook, but it can no longer be used, because the mount requires the profession at the appropriate level. The vial, however, does not require the profession; in principle, a player could drop a profession, train alchemy up to the level necessary to create it, use the vial, then drop alchemy and STILL be able to turn into a Sandstone Drake. Is this working as intended or a minor oversight? We will see...

The sand would be 24k. It sells back to vendors for 750g, but things sell back for 1/4 of the price you buy them for.

Tooltip as of 11.28.2010 states the following: Requires Riding (225) Use: Teaches you how to transform into a dragon, allowing you to fly [u]very fast[/u] and carry an ally on your back. Anyone else wondering about the wording in the above? From what I understand from the text, it would mean that you can use it at riding skill 225 (slow flying mount skill), gain fast flying skill AND the ability to transform into a dragon. Or maybe it is just Blizzard slacking on the wording in the tooltips again. Wouldn't be the first time...
