Note that the next raid part in the quest chain requires a fresh reset, since you need to kill Shannox, Alys, Rhyo and Beth.
However, if after clearing you end up at 24/25 embers (10 man) or 22+/25 (25 man), you can kill Baleroc first the following week and still complete stage 1 of the staff in the same reset.
This could save 1 week off the time it takes for your legendary :)

It seems that since blizz made these old raids into 'flex' mode, you can do Heroic+Normal clears in the same week cutting the time of the quest by half.

Description

Venture into the Plane of Fire, {class}, and gather Eternal Embers. Bring them to me with Sands of Time and I will create the Eye.
