The quest was not giving me credit at first. I dismissed my hunter pet AND left the subzone/re-entered the sub zone. Started giving quest credit at that point. For those that are having this same issue, try what I did.
In the quest you get to use [item=116759] on the Gentle Clefthoof. They are above the cave.
Obviously this is a reference to the BFG9000 from Doom.

One of my finest works, {name}! Momma would be so proud of me right now... if she was still in one piece. We gotta test this bad boy out though before I'm comfortable letting you run around with it all willy-nilly. I heard there were some clefthooves out back causing a ruckus.
