TheWoWDBStarting this quest was bugged a couple of times for me (and still is): when accepting it and - without closing the window first - immediately telling Marasmius "let's go!" he will take you to the location all right. And you will be able to crush the targets as well - but they don't count.
If this happens to you, click the "leave vehicle" button which brings you back to Marasmius' place.
You need to approach him again (the quest is already in your log) and give him the "go" answer.
Then proceed with the quest as intended - except that you run basically in your own wake of destruction and may have to take a couple of laps until you have all the targets killed.

Blizz, in another example of their seemingly unending ability to screw up quests has made the spawn rate of the mobs in this train ride unfathomably slow...so if you're in there with even one person ahead of you, you just circle around an empty forest with nothing to kill...ridiculous
