TheWoWDBThere is no exit from The Ring, apart from the mushroom teleports. After accepting the quest A Blackthorn Blend, you need to use the mushroom network to return you to the Heart of the Forest.
From there, take a flight to Glitterfall Basin, and ride to Blackthorn Grove.
Note that the [item=183840] is looted from [object=358528], which are piles of soil. It is NOT dropped by mobs such as the [npc=170873].

You turn in the quest back to the Mushroom NPC in the cave location at the center of the mushroom network. To get to the NPC, you can enter at any mushroom node on the network, including the entrance linked from the Covenant HQ (The Heart of the Forest) on the main floor in the cave to the north end (55, 26).
You have an extra action button to use the mushrooms. I didn't notice this at first and so I abandoned and reloaded and whatnot.

Description
Ah, just the mushroomancer I wanted to see! Mind getting me some clay? There's all kinds of different soil, you know. It's not all just dirt! And clay... clay is something special. You ever try growing through clay? Oh, I guess not. It's hard work to break down, but once you do the flavor is incomparable! My roots are looking forward to the challenge. Blackthorn Grove has a particularly bitter and complex clay that is just what I'm craving. I'm sure they won't mind if you ask them for some.
