TheWoWDBI'm copying my post from the horde version of this quest, hoping that maybe it's the same location for both factions. I did this quest at 4AM so I was all by myself when I did it, so I didn't see any alliance or other horde in this area.
Video posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeBEGH4zTKc shows the location of the anomaly. My UI wouldn't show that yellow orb that you see in the video, but didn't stop me from being able to run to that exact location and bang out the quest in two seconds.
For you alliance, you should simply just be able to take the stairs down from your area, and then follow and hug the wall on the right about 20 yards.
If it turns out the orb isn't in the same spot for alliance players, just let me know or downvote this to oblivion and I'll delete the post.

Sadly this one is bugged for a lot of people and the anomaly simply doesn't spawn at all, your meter stays at 0/100 no matter where in the quarry you are, even on the exact spot. No amount of shutting off addons or relogging/reloading/retaking seems to fix it either (neither did the server restart on the day after the patch). Even in the same group you can get 1 person that it works for first tme while another their meter never moves.
I am not convinced this is bugged. Even when you feel like it's stuck behind the wall. Use the meter to gauge a general vicinity but make sure you go by the number to determine the actual position. Once you get to 95.. Try stepping around in each direction until you find 96, then 97 etc.. It is very sensitive.

Description
There's somethin' down there that was spookin' the workers. Some kind o' anomaly... looks like a ghost, or a magic spell... like nothing I've ever seen. I did manage to get a reading on it and put together this device to try to track it down. The display on the device will let you know roughly how close you are. Once you get close enough, you can use it to draw out the anomaly and get rid of it for good!
