If you only do LFR or skip around killing bosses in the raid and are confused about how to get this quest, the item to start the questline drops from the first boss, Gnarlroot. You then have to wait for the NPC, Merithra, to run to Gnarlroot's platform from the front of the raid. Once you turn the item in, Merithra will offer this quest and you can start collecting currency and killing bosses for credit. So, start with the first boss to get on your way.
On the flipside, if you forget to turn it in while in your raid group and are no longer inside the raid, you can invite a friend, convert the party to a raid and enter the instance. Merithra will be just inside.
If like me you have finished the quest and not sure where to hand it in, take the portal at the end of the raid to the Wellspring Atrium and then run all the way back into the raid with the speed buff to the Throne of the Firelord.
Standing there next to the dragon out of sight is Merithra waiting for you to hand the quest in.

Description
It seems that the fabric of the Emerald Dream itself is rejecting the invaders, leaving behind shadows of their dreams in the form of these Essences. So close to Amirdrassil, even your own actions are leaving behind ephemeral echoes of power. With enough time, perhaps we can use these echoes to awaken their strength and turn it against Fyrakk himself. Defeat the invaders wherever you find them and return to me when you have gathered enough of the Dream's power.

Having been carefully nurtured within the Emerald Dream, Amirdrassil is preparing to bloom and cross into Azeroth. But the fate of the new World Tree cannot be secured until Azeroth's champions come together to face Fyrakk and his molten allies, before he devours the heart of Amirdrassil and bathes the world in flame.
Bosses in the Adventure Guide, in order: Gnarlroot, Igira the Cruel, Volcoross, Council of Dreams, Larodar, Keeper of the Flame, Nymue, Weaver of the Cycle, Smolderon, Tindral Sageswift, Seer of the Flame, Fyrakk the Blazing.
