Deadly Onyx quality ranks
Deadly Onyx comes in 3 quality ranks, and each rank is its own item on the Auction House. The recipe’s base crafting difficulty is 420.
| Rank | Item | Lowest listed price | Listings (US) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rank 1 | Deadly Onyx | 5,939 gold27 silver | 4 listings, 18 units |

| Rank 3 | Deadly Onyx | 554 gold98 silver | 8 listings, 16 units |
The crafting estimate above is the base comparison: rank 1 reagents against the rank 1 result. Your skill and the reagents’ ranks decide which rank a craft actually makes, so a higher rank is never priced against rank 1 reagents here. Right now rank 1 lists above rank 2 and rank 3, so a craft that comes out at a higher rank is worth less at today’s listings, not more.

Reading these numbers
At current lowest listed prices the 4 reagents for one craft of Deadly Onyx cost 457 gold29 silver. Most of that is Crushed Gemstones - 20 at 19 gold99 silver each, 399 gold80 silver, 87.4% of the whole basket. Watch that one price and you have watched most of this recipe.
Break-even is 481 gold35 silver - below that listed price the craft loses gold once Blizzard’s 5% cut is taken. The crafted item’s lowest listed price is 5,939 gold27 silver, which clears it.
At that listed price the gross margin before fees is 5,481 gold98 silver; the Auction House would keep 296 gold96 silver of a sale, leaving 5,185 gold1 silver. That is an estimated 1133.9% return on the gold you put into reagents, after the cut has taken 5.4% of the gross.
Listing depth right now: 18 units across 4 auctions region-wide. Depth separates a market price from a single asking figure, but listings are not sales, so read it alongside the estimate.
Costs use each reagent’s lowest listed price; the estimate is the crafted item’s lowest listed price, times the items one craft makes, minus those reagents and Blizzard’s 5% sale cut. Listings are asking prices, not sales. Recalculated every snapshot and left blank rather than guessed when a price is missing. How we estimate crafting profit →
