Where the reagents come from

Core Alloy. Made with Core Alloy (Blacksmithing, Khaz Algar Blacksmithing) from 10 Bismuth and 8 Echoing Flux. At lowest listed prices that makes one Core Alloy for 82 gold72 silver, against 44 gold50 silver listed. Lowest listed price by quality rank: rank 1 44 gold50 silver, rank 2 56 gold99 silver and rank 3 93 gold. Also a required reagent in 58 other recipes (51 Blacksmithing, 4 Inscription, 1 Engineering and 1 Jewelcrafting); Replica Rumbling Wastes Drill Pod takes the most, 8 per craft.

Crystalline Powder. No recipe, Blizzard quest reward or dungeon journal drop in our game data produces it. Also a required reagent in 33 other recipes (13 Blacksmithing, 8 Enchanting, 6 Alchemy and 2 Inscription); the most per craft: Artisan Leatherworker's Knife (Blacksmithing, 20 per craft), Crystalline Radiance (Enchanting, 20 per craft), Artisan Leatherworker's Toolset (Blacksmithing, 10 per craft), Council's Intellect (Enchanting, 10 per craft) and Oathsworn's Strength (Enchanting, 10 per craft).

Null Stone. No recipe, Blizzard quest reward or dungeon journal drop in our game data produces it. Also a required reagent in 28 other recipes (14 Blacksmithing, 11 Jewelcrafting, 1 Tailoring and 1 Engineering); the most per craft: Excavator's Haversack (Tailoring, 10 per craft), Artisan Leatherworker's Knife (Blacksmithing, 5 per craft), Artisan Leatherworker's Toolset (Blacksmithing, 5 per craft), Artisan Needle Set (Blacksmithing, 5 per craft) and Artisan Pickaxe (Blacksmithing, 5 per craft).

Reading these numbers

At current lowest listed prices the 3 reagents for one craft of Ironclaw Weightstone cost 72 gold68 silver. Most of that is Core Alloy - 1 at 44 gold50 silver each, 44 gold50 silver, 61.2% of the whole basket. Watch that one price and you have watched most of this recipe.

Break-even is 76 gold50 silver per craft, 19 gold12 silver per item at 4 items a craft - below that listed price the craft loses gold once Blizzard’s 5% cut is taken. The crafted item’s lowest listed price is 3 gold50 silver, which does not clear it.

The crafted item currently lists for less than its reagents cost: −58 gold68 silver before fees, and the Auction House would still take 70 silver of a sale, so a craft loses 59 gold38 silver at these prices. At current listings, buying the crafted item costs less than making it. That is an estimated -81.7% return on the gold you put into reagents.

Listing depth right now: 278 units across 27 auctions region-wide. Depth separates a market price from a single asking figure, but listings are not sales, so read it alongside the estimate.

Costs use each reagent’s lowest listed price; the estimate is the crafted item’s lowest listed price, times the items one craft makes, minus those reagents and Blizzard’s 5% sale cut. Listings are asking prices, not sales. Recalculated every snapshot and left blank rather than guessed when a price is missing. How we estimate crafting profit →
