The devs told us exactly how MoP weapon enchants work at the link below.
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/6397900436?page=8#154
I'm pasting it here in case they retire the beta forums after release.
- River's Song: 4 RPPM on melee attacks that land, or are dodged, or parried.
- Dancing Steel: 2.3 RPPM on melee attacks that land.
- Colossus: 6 RPPM on melee attacks that land, or are dodged, or parried, with a 3-second cooldown.
- Elemental Force: 10 RPPM on damage or spell damage/healing
- Jade Spirit: 2 RPPM on spell damage or healing, 50-second cooldown.
- Windsong: 2 RPPM on damage, or spell damage/healing.
Edit: As of 10/15/12, Windsong and Elemental Force now proc on all damage and healing, including melee, ranged, direct and DoT.
They now trigger on the new "Real Procs Per Minute" (RPPM) system, which is weapon speed and instant attack independent and fully detailed in this blue post.

Edit 2: As of patch 5.1 Dancing Steel, Jade Spirit, River's Song, and Colossus are on the RPPM system also.
Edit 3: As of patch 5.2, Dancing Steel now has a 15% greater chance to activate.

I'm dumping crusader for this in 5.4 for lawbies. It was absorbing around 300 dmg at lvl 1.
[spell=116631] appears to be the proc'ed absorb.
Based on simulations done by Theck, this is a solid enchant for tanking.
Tooltip
Permanently enchants a melee weapon to make your damaging melee strikes sometimes activate a Mogu protection spell, absorbing up to damage. Cannot be applied to items higher than level $ecix.

Just tried this on my DW monk, both can proc separately, 8000 each on my 90 monk. it's like landslide for rogue. if used with guard spell doesnt know yet which got eaten up first on damage, and new procs refresh the buff
Apparently Word of Glory is a 'damaging melee strike'. Colossus procs from WoG on my prot paladin.
Good enchant for 85-90 tanks that are not running difficult content. Potentially absorbs 48,000 damage per minute, or an average of 800 per second. When it comes to on-level normal raid bosses, though, if Dancing Steel or River Song helps you dodge one extra melee attack per minute, then it was more valuable than Colossus.
Due to changes to enchanting and other perm/semi perm item enhancements this is busted down to 750 damage absorb@ 80 on the 5.4 PTR. Yay for making them available on any wep at any level...
Well the tool tip inside wow on the actual enchant is wrong as well. but they data mine it i guess so that is a given. the value on the actual buff however show 8000 both in game and in wow (see iamleejn's post)
I've noticed similar oddities with what is and is not a "damaging melee strike". I've managed to get a proc with Gift of the Naaru.
This enchant is subject to the player's Battle Fatigue passive that reduces healing and, I guess absorbs, by 30%. This enchant's proc becomes 5600 in bg's.
Levleing in 9.1 this does slight more than colossus as a paladin tank. About half of [item=133598]
For the [item=138804] xmog, players have to grind [zone=6125] every week until it drops.
I've also seen Dancing Steel proc off of healing spheres.
The WoWHead tooltip is incorrect (Build 16004), according to the in game tooltip the Absorb is now 8000 damage, not 7500.
For my lvl 90 arcane mage at 521, 16 of 18 pieces of gear are buffed, enchanted or enhanced,
just the shirt and tabard are stock.
I was in "Downfall" playing and using arcane brilliance.a lotI looked up and saw Ancestral Vigor, Realm of Y'shara, Earthliving, Colossus, Tranquility, Illuminated Health, maybe half a dozen more, Wild something and some others I didn't have time to check the names on.
I presume this is the list of the buffs and enchants activated.
My Grievous Gladiators Mageblade is enchanted with Colossus.
none of the other gear tells me anything except the buff on the statsI can't tell from recount how much each one contributed and what triggered them.
As of 5.0.5, this is the BiS Brewmaster enchant.
