Darkflight:

  • Doesn't share a CD with either sprint or dash

  • Doesn't break stealth or prowl

  • Can be used while shapeshifted without reverting to caster form

And it indeed doesn't stack with sprint or dash, although both can be active at the same time.

Wait, what?

"Activates your true form, increasing movement speed by 70% for 10 sec."

But, aren't worgen actually humans that have been transformed into worgen by a curse, which means that their human shapes are their true forms? Overpowered or not, something is seriously wrong if a worgen walks around, decides to speed up, transforms into a naked human and runs around for 10 seconds before turning worgen again.

This macro will use Dash if it's up or "ghettodash" if it's on cooldown:

#showtooltip Dash
/castsequence reset=180 Dash, Darkflight

Use 144 instead of 180 if you have the Dash glyph. Should work equally well for sprint (just adjust the seconds to the CD).

The Class that'll likely see the most benefit from this Racial, is the Warrior. The #1 defense of any ranged class against a Warrior, is kiting. When a Warrior is able to stay within melee range of a Ranged class, the ranged class is screwed. As evidenced by how much ranged classes screamed and QQed about the Prot Warrior's pre-nerf Warbringer talent. It essentially allowed the Prot Warrior to glue himself to a ranged class, the ranged couldn't shake him off at all.

As of 16/2/11 Darkflight has a both game-breaking and amusing bug.

It stacks with the speed boost in battlegrounds

Combining the two means you'll run faster than an epic ground mount.

Game-breaking? Possibly.

Amusing? Definately, nothing like watching a worgen do massive strides and move about 10 feet with each step.

This ability is just epic in general....

On my balance/resto druid, using travelform+Darkflight in pvp to get away from melee chars, is just awesome.... No one can catch you and spamming travelform ensures that you clear movement slowing effects while still moving faster than your enemies... i love it :)

wanna know what's wrong with that scenario? the druid will leave his "escort" behind quite fast, being all alone and uncapable of defending himself, a simple cripple poison will make him unable to run (cleasng poison is being changed in cata, it's not gonna be spammable) what could stop the horde from having 5 people near to gank him as he's crossing the field? if he leaves his escort behind he's gonna be all alone very soon, and that's bad in WSG

Comparison on a feral druid using Cat Form:
Dash will increase your movement speed to 170% for 15 seconds - a flat rate despite having Feral Swiftness.
Darkflight will increase your movement speed to 182% for 10 seconds ((130x0.40)+130 = 182).
This provides a feral druid with 25 seconds of increased movement speed, very handy when trying traveling far distances indoors or escaping an unfavorable skirmish with a member of the opposite faction.

Just out of curiosity, if someone in the Beta could verify that currently this doesn't share CD with Dash or Sprint, that would be great. The effects won't stack, of that I'm sure, since that would just be waaaayyyy too fast. Fun though.

From patch 4.0.6:

* The worgen racial trait Darkflight now has a 2-minute cooldown, down from 3, and is no longer on the global cooldown. In addition, the movement speed bonus now stacks with existing bonuses, but cannot be activated while Sprint or Dash is active (and they cannot be activated while Darkflight is active).

This means that it can now stack with over movement increasing effects, excluding "sprint" from Rogues, and "dash" from Druids. For example, it stacks with Druid travel form now.

IBTnerf.

Warsong Gulch:
- Worgen druid grabs the flag.
- Also, the druid grabs the speed-up chest for 100% bonus speed for like 10-12 seconds (Not sure)
- Druid goes travel form for 5 seconds.
- Druid uses speed potion of any kind.
- Worgen racial is now activated; Darkflight, which lasts for 10 seconds.
- When the druid is 'inside' their own faction's base, he goes cat form and uses Dash which lasts for another 15 seconds. (Might even pick-up the speed-up chest)
- The worgen druid has now capped the flag. (Under 30 seconds)

Seems a bit overpowered to me, though.

"Um, hate to remind you, but cheetah does not stack with anything else" Not quite - it stacks with the 4 piece pvp set bonus of 15% increased movement speed outdoors. These stack multiplicatively, meaning 1.40 * 1.15 = 1.61; 161% of base movement speed. Same thing applies to dash/dark flight as well as minor speed boot enchant/meta gems. Feral druid in form using dark flight would be moving 96% faster than someone on foot with no speed enhances. Basic breakdown off the top of my head... +96% - Dash/Dark Flight in form with 4 piece feral pvp bonus +70% - dash or dark flight with no fer

This ability makes worgen druid FCs and worgen hunters very annoying in the 10-19 range (Especially 10-15) >< Since 2/2 feral swiftness is now available by level 11, and since hunters get their disengage at 14, Darkflight allows them both to kite/outpace just about anything. Woe unto a melee heavy team, for you will be in for a rough time if you are facing these guys!

Seems really useful for every class, for example, I'm going to make a warrior: Charge, Intercept, if the caster/hunter still isn't dead, use this, and you can finish him off. I think this will be nerfed tho :/

As of Patch 5.1, it appears the movement speed DOES STACK with existing effects. In fact it provides an additional 40% of your current movement speed.

Activates your true form, increasing current movement speed by an additional 40% for 10 sec.

As a warlock, using Burning Rush [spell=111400] you gain +50% movement speed. This causes you to move at 150%. If you cast Darkflight during Burning Rush it increases to 210%.

40% of 150 = 60
150 + 60 = 210

A rough using sprint should move at 218 (40% of 170 = 68 + 170 = 218)

I think the lock flag runner just got even better :)

This Enchant Cloak - Gift of Versatility with Tuskarr's Vitality is the only way to fly. On my worgen rogue, I have Darkflight, Sprint, Glyph of Sprint, Nightstalker (despite Subterfuge having more utility when you're not running to and fro), and finally I gather enough Swiftthistle and Briarthorn to have virtually unlimited Speed Pot available for a grand total 188% increase, or rather 288% speed whenever some guy/gal on a mount thinks s/he's all that (Darkflight does not stack with sprint, just use it when sprint runs out of gas). This does not begin to take into account Fleet Footed and Preparation. I ALWAYS get the first flag, or even when I'm feeling generous get halfway to the next flag first before having to stop and pop Running Wild (again no mount necessary) to finish my way to the second flag well before any smelly horde gets there. Rogue ftw. /grin /cackle

Skullhawk13+5via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

This now stacks with sprint style effects and has a shorter cooldown. So you can go super speed by combing them if so desired, tested and confirmed on my worgen, Tiger’s Lust, Dash, Death’s advance, Burning Rush,Aspect of the cheetah all combine. It’s MUCH more useful now even if your worgen is already mobile they can go superspeed. It even works with wraith walk but only if you cast darkflight first.

fitty50two2+4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

They have been transformed from human into worgen, and I imagine that you'd be stuck that way unless you could control it. So just like when they are always worgen when in combat, same with darkflight and running wild. This is because they cannot concentrate on staying in their human form. In my opinion, this makes their worgen form their true form now.

Kalimu+4via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

=( nerf! Nooooo!
Oh well, remember, this is not a "temporary travel form", you can cast spells and attack with it active, and it's ment to be used in a fight which you will get a usefull move speed bonus compared to your opponent (if hes not a druid feral or a rouges that casted sprint)
Its not a skill to run, but to pursue an enemie trying to run from you

KuniZyrekai+3via Wowhead (opens the original comment in a new tab)

They appear to have broken it, but the TBC rocket boots stacked with this for a while there. Darkflight, those boots and slow fall could launch me clear across twin peaks in about 6 seconds. The run speed total was something absurd like 580%.
